    Superfetch will shut itself down if it fails. It couldn't possibly cause a FS crash/corruption like you complain.

    OTOH these drives could fail since they're not superfetch and they're potentially caching writes.

    Its not just me. There are over 550,000 businesses that support Microsoft Products and 0 that support GOogle (unless your bought out and incorporated into the Google Borg.

    See unlike google, microsoft created this channel program called "VAR" where i can resell services, support, maintenance, hardware and software and dedicate myself to making it work for my clients.

    Sure, i can sell a google service and turn into a support person or end up working for google to stay in the IT sector.

    All i'm saying is i find it almost ironic that there is this infallable support for Google yet no one questions their motives.

    Maybe google will allow me to resell there services, sell bolt-ons that can be certified and re-write the world to work around there products and be all fine and dandy - but is that ultimately any better from where we are today where there is still choices no matter what you use but those choices are more expensive, inferior and less integrated than what google will ultimately have even putting a dead end on open source alternatives because "what will be the point" if "all mighty google does it all?"

    just asking since no one else does.

    What does google have to do with free software? My question is a serious question. Even though you may hate Microsoft, it created jobs.

    Google - they don't have a VAR channel or partner program - They own the entire supply chain almost end to end.

    That is something i seriously question and find it terribly ironic you chose not to answer and throw around you illogical praise for free software as if its the magical dust that will save your future.

    At least with Microsoft Products i can still sell my services, support, licensing, hardware and services. Google? I can sell a short contract to replace myself.

    The irony of the Dell+Linux camp is every linux fanboy swears up and down dell sucks and they would never buy one but at the same time think Linux is self defeating if Dell doesn't pre-install it.

    What is it? why let the tempers flair? If you can't be sincere about something without sounding immature, irrelevent and childish what is the sense of Dell even catering to you or justifying your actions by supporting them on their systems?

    Its dells forums, its dells channel of communication. They can do as they see fit and the irony of this entire debate merely shows the lack of responsibility on behalf of people who are trying there damndest to think they're the best for reasons that mean NOTHING to a corporation or its clients.

    Funny you should compare these. I've spent a few years working with general contractors and if there is one thing they're good at, its not working a full day. Sure you have those dedicated few that still believe in an honest days work equalling an honest days pay but i've had a hard enough time keeping people on site, stopping them from coming in drunk, stoned, missing work all together or complaining it may rain next week.

    Every "vertical" market, whether its labeled blue colar or white has its own moral ambiguity and issues as it relates to work and work ethics. I don't see many "blue collars" that care about checking email, they're stopping at the bar to watch a race or check on the game. (and there are white collars that do that as well)

    I think you miss the notion that there is a lot more in common between the two work forces than you care to admit. I've worked both and while they're different, they're both physically and mentally challenging in there own ways and they both have there ups and downs and distractions to contend with.

    They have been like that for decades, yet we have had president after president support them. Why change now? I guess when you create turmoil it creates inflated prices from products that come from the region and thus we artificially pay more for oil than what we should because of the risk involved.

    Really, terrorists only mean something when you choose to give them that much credit. Your giving them power by recognizing them as something they're not.

    Christians, Catholics and many other "mainstream" religions have all fought holy wars that killed millions of people. This is simply a situation we are doomed to repeat because it works well for a select few. Its all about power, politics and money and absolutely nothing to do with "terror" or "fear" unless your gullable enough to actually BELIEVE THAT

    Some blue LEDS are VERY bright to look at but don't illuminate as "bright" as the softer yellow/white lights. (which seem to give off a better appearance of light). We had a few blues but i was able to trade them in because after pulling into the driveway during dark if you caught a glimpse of them head on it was pretty dangerous. (deer in headlights syndrome)

    The yellow tint ones also bring in less bugs. The blue lights sometimes weren't visable if it was june bug season.

    I purchased my LED lamps from http://www.besthomeledlighting.com/ they gave me a quantity discount. There are many others out there as well. I just think of it as a 0% interest buy down on my electricity for the next 2 years and after that its pure ROI :)

    I did a search on froogle and found a few sites that had great prices. LED is getting VERY competitive and what was 99-120.00 a light a year ago is around 39-51.00 a light if you don't mind going with a non "boutique" name.

    I purchased 20 LED "flood" lights and got a quantity discount. A decent investment upfront indeed but my first bill has already shown how much the others literally "sucked". Perhaps with people putting priority on these lights they will get even cheaper.

    I'll work on replacing even my CFL's soon.

    Thats odd. Every CFL I have explicity states non-dimmer but every LED i've purchased is dimmer capable. CFL's are usually only rated for max power and if you aren't providing that power they wont "fire".

    I purchased LED floods for less than 50 bucks a piece (38.00 - found on froogle - did purchase 20 of them though) but when you figure in the lifespan of 20-30,000 hours they're not only cheaper in cost but cheaper in long term power use as well.

    To each there own. There are good bulbs and bad ones. I'm not fond of most CFL's but in my opinion Halogen's put out more heat then I care to do with. A good light store will help you find what is best and thats how i converted to LED for most of my lighting. I've cut my bill from 130/month to just over 55 by replacing much ouf our external flood lights and most "always on" living space lights (kitchen/living room & bathrooms) nearly 20 flood lights was costing me more than i thought but we like the security of lights when they're on.

    LED's are the way to go if you ask me. Long life span, great performance, more color availability (more "soft" colors/natural looking lights). LED flood lights put out 200-300 lumens @ 7-11 watts of power. I replaced 16 external lights with LEDS and while it was a bit upfront cash my power bill has dropped drastically and no more whipping out the ladder every 2 months to replace burned out bulbs or ones damaged in the weather.

    less garbage over the lifespan, less electricity, less footprint. Seems a dollar short and a day late if you ask me.

    Fun != Magic.
    Cute != Magic.

    I think in general until they can get online play/co-op & team sports going they're going to have a tough time. Multiplayer at home is expensive, not to mention is difficult finding peripherals and online play is non existant.

    Wii is trying to be the iPod of consoles but how can you really when the market when your competitors iPods are just/if not more capable and the only difference is the peripherals? (and taste in music have you..)

    Being a parent you can't be all encompassing and control every finite moment of your child, that would be a *BAD* parent. You have to learn to trust your kids and learn to set limits which is very very hard if tv is stretching those limits beyond means.

    Its a paradigm of media winning the hearts and minds of family and parents just being those people that pay for it all (in ways children can't conceive).

    I don't think the issue is necessarily control violence but i'd sure as hell hope my kids see boobs and crotch and weiners long before they see someone eating someones brain for dinner while they're drugged up.

    So yeah, i actually appreciate a government discussing something, a split house is nice for actual "debate" and well, politics is dirty, if you can prove parents are all to blame then do it.

    No one has yet, but they still just blame parents. Sure there are bad apples and some people should have a license to be able to have kids but there you go, accepting big brother for something you see doesn't impact you but would impact someone else.

    catch my drift?

    Being a parent my hands are tied and you want to say i need to do more? are you a parent?

    And you see your ads on sites like this. I've seen referrals from astalavista.box.sk, iso sites, pdf/book sharing sites and other high traffic sites that are questionable in there legality but probably making millions.

    Perhaps there are marketers that could see this profitable, i say leave that to Adbrite and other mass CPM sellers selling junk and have google focus on whats legit.

    If for anything google should hand qualify every site it approves and be liable for the network they are selling to there advertisers. It is a lot to ask for, but they shouldn't do anything less.

    Google has a terrible problem of expecting technology to fix/manage itself and this is one of those times when intelligent human intervention should be capable of deciding what is best for google and its partners. Googles "human" customer support is basically non existant. I think that upsets people when they try and report these piss poor quality sites and are disregarded. A smaller business would be disgraced out of business for what google just ignores and amasses huge profits from while promising advertising partners that technology still solves there click fraud issues. ha ha ha
