I fear that for Google, going fully profit and opening to investors might in the long run have a negative impact... Will big Google shareholders be able to influence what appears in the Search Engine? Maybe right now this will be impossible, but who knows what might happen in the future... And what will be the consequences of it for the users?
Maybe the problem is the following: there is a way in which Google is perceived now that is fundamentally wrong. It is treated as a "service" for Internet Users, the One and Only Search Engine, while it is just Yet Another Company.
Monopolies (especially privately-owned and profit-making ones) are never good. Will Google become as Bad(TM) as Microsoft?
Don't flood her with a huge list of companies; pick up A Few Good Ones. She would not be able to tell the difference otherwise, and she would not care to call everybody. Four is already too much, IMHO.
GC has that, but it's well hidden. It's the System Status page. I didn't find it linked from anywhere except deep in the help (but maybe I'm dumb). I suspect there might be one on Yahoo also (since GC "belongs" to Yahoo), but I frankly don't know where that might be.
The Napster case has been carefully followed... As usual, Italians expect to see what Uncle Sam does before taking any decisions. By the way, the local RIAA (called SIAE) is being completely restructured...
Anyhow, Napster is hardly a problem since most of the country rolls on dialup (56.6)... ISDN and ADSL are arriving just now. Yuck. It's actually much cheaper for the average user to buy a CD than to download it from Napster. Of course, lots of cheaper illegal CDs are on sale in the street.
If they really have done that and someone gets to know it, I'm afraid that will be one of the worst mistakes of their life. And that would certainly appear to be the move of a dying elephant.
If Microsoft's source code appears in public, downloadable from somewhere or in some other way, most likely they will not write on the page "Hey Dudes, check this out! This is M$ Office Source Code!".
Maybe after the water calms down, something will appear in some anonymous way in some projects, in some webpages... It might be difficult to know for an OSS maintainer that a contribution to his software does not come from M$ stolen code. How should a maintainer behave? Should he be paranoid? Should he act "in good faith"?
It won't be as simple as it looks.
It does not really seem that they are not giving anymore IP addresses for IP-based virtual hosting. At ARIN, just like at RIPE, they are just _strongly_ discouraging IP-based virtual hosting, in favour of name-based VH. You can see her e for a discussion about IP-based VH at RIPE.
So, have they solved the issue of calling emergency numbers (911 etc.) and rerouting the call in order to get "local" help?

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and Unbreakable.
That's five movies! Can't you count?:-)

The process of deleting MP3 files automatically from a user directory is:
All this besides the usual stuff which is said in favor and against MP3s.

There is already a much better 3d video card out there... Go and check it!;-)

Yes, and aren't we at war with Eurasia?:-)
