  1. Put Parliamentary Hansard on DVD on DMCA Anti-Circumvention Provisions · · Score: 1

Can someone please put Hansard on DVD. Due to its large size, im sure you could fit a whole years worth on. Then, have someone decrypt it openly, and see what the corporations do then. It would look pretty bad to deny access to the proceedings occurring in parliament. If they do nothing, then the cats out of the bag, if they do something, then see you later DMCA.

Firstly, I would imagine that you would need someone in the project to have been proved beyond reasonable doubt as having access to the stolen source code. MS can't just point and scream at every OSS project claiming poor. Secondly, if that did happen, wouldnt you then need to prove the person who had looked at the source code, used it in the OSS project. Which begs the question, how do u do that??? What constitutes using code from another source. Often people use code, but will rewrite it for there situation, more the idea behind the code is used.

Ok so does that mean they are running scared since the previous articles were, "not factually inaccurate". This guy cant make his mind up. He is really saying "yeah well, your article was wrong, but actually was not wrong, but we dont like the fact it isnt wrong."

This still might result in more tax for the government.

Say the original value of the company is $100. When you do things like share-splits, it doesnt change the value of the company - its just more shares for the same amount of value. (You can cut a pie to tiny pieces, but the sum is still a pie)

In this case, since the share are going to employees, there is a shift in the distribution of wealth from normal shareholders (mums and dads say) to the employees.

So instead of the M$ employees owning say 10% of the value, they might now own 20% of the value.
Since I would imagine M$ employees earn above the average salary, the would pay more in tax than the other stock holders.

  14. Tax Imputation on Microsoft and Cisco Don't Pay Taxes? · · Score: 1

In Australia, we have a imputation system. So its fairer in that it stops double taxation. If money is paid to shareholders in form of dividends, they get a tax credit on the income tax paid by the corporation on that portion of income they received.

Im not sure what the tax rates are in the US, but if this happened in australia, the government would get more money since the capital gains tax is hooked to ur marginal tax rate. So since company tax is lower than personal tax rate, (above a certain income) - more is received by the government.
