    that's nice

    too bad my inlaws don't watch most of these but the russian channels they have and the ones FIOS doesn't. same with international channels in almost every other language. lots of immigrants in the USA from all around the world who like to watch TV from their birth country.

    the TV part of google fiber is crapola. and a little with FIOS as well.

    i have some family who live in the FIOS footprint. they still have cable. the reason is that they watch A LOT of international TV and the cable company has 4 of their language international channels. FIOS has 2. cable costs $80 a month more, but for them its worth it for those channels since that is what they mostly watch.

    same with almost every other language channel lineup. lots of people in the USA watch them and are willing to pay for them. with with the huge costs in building out infrastructure like this its stupid to not try to cover every last potential customer

    you're a MORON. i joke about DR with people all the time. i get daily emails about spending ridiculous amounts of money on DR. sure it works for fortune 500 international megacorps and financial exchanges but for smaller companies it makes no sense to spend a lot on DR. if a nuclear bomb goes off in NYC or an 8 magnitude earthquake happens my concern is my family, not going to Philly to get DR running. like i'm going to dump my wife and kids and hope they survive just to go do DR
    who cares, in the ensuing depression most of our customers will go out of business anyway which means my employer probably going belly up

    no big deal. hundreds of similar apps with services in the app store for iphone and ipad

    it seems this thing is like credit data. companies give up the data in exchange for a credit score and risk profiling

    same here. seems like private companies will be giving up their security cam and other data in exchange for security services

    if it has sentimental value then think about paying for backups

    hard drives go bad all the time so if you're going to back up to hard disk and its important buy a few external ones and keep them in different locations

    most products produced in the last 100 some years need dozens to thousands of smaller inventions. someone making a cool new wireless algorithm may never build a business around it, but licensing it to existing companies is a way to get compensated.

    i've traveled on airplanes since the early 1990's and security is mostly the same. we still had metal detectors and wands back then too

    big differences now are more scrutiny of electronics that most people simply didn't have back then and taking off your shoes. otherwise i would get rid of all the metal before the metal detector back then too because i got the wand

    making simple games in UNITY doesn't require much math, but doing stuff like creating new engines or modifying the engine like in the AAA titles requires math. or actually creating the engine and coding in NEW FEATURES in for the first time requires math. how do you think all those new features get into UNITY and UNREAL in the first place?

    not like the boxes to add a light source and have it bounce off water appears by magic

    everyone here writes bugs with code and works it out over time. lots of times in production. but someone else makes a mistake and its time to burn them at the stake.

    samsung's icons are very similar with the iphone in a few cases, almost exact. if Moto, HTC and others can make skins that don't look like the iphone then samsung can as well

    i don't have an imac but i've ready that apple uses very high quality displays for them and that dell sells a similar monitor for $800 or so

    sure you can build something cheaper, but you aren't saving anything if you cheapen out on the monitor

    they use that to hack his amazon account
    and then use the info from amazon to hack icloud

    if he had just used wordpress or blogger or some other cloud service this hack would have been A LOT harder. it's 2012, no need to reinvent the wheel by setting up your own server for email, web site photo sharing or the 20 other things that da cloud has made easier and more secure. he just wanted to be uber tech cool and show off how he can run his own site and waste time managing it instead of letting someone else do it
