    google has done direct peering with ISP's for years now, you are way behind the times. not only that, but they own buildings where different network providers peer with each other

    google has so much internet backbone they own they are moving into the last mile ISP business just to use up the bandwidth they have

    comcast doesn't have a CDN, they rent space in their datacenters to Limelight and Akamai
    apple uses akamai which is why their content is always fast to load
    netflix used to use limelight until late last year when they tried to push openconnect. even then i read on some of the professional IT websites that the contract with netflix was so low that limelight barely made a profit

    RTFA article, it's a business rules problem
    due to lots of laws on the books calculating pensions differently for different agencies and different years of service it's almost impossible to code the business rules to take in different factors into account

    same here. VC's handle the money and take their cut no matter what. they probably don't care what they invest in

    NYC i have 40 wifi networks in range of me. it's so bad that my xbox and apple TV are connected by cat5 cable to my router. otherwise its constant disconnections and long buffering times for netflix during the peak time

    in the old days Yahoo was an ISP and probably had links to a lot of network providers

    Most players are about equal which is why it is hard to win half your games. And the teams that win more don't win much more.

    Yes there is the human element, but most the game has already been decided and can be predicted

    $1500 per user
    10 guys is $15000
    then more money for the other software

    you can always start up a company with a few hundreds thousand $$$ of your own money and have it fail and lose it all. Epic is giving you software to make a professional product with very little upfront cost

    then don't license everything under the sun
    or buy your software upfront
    or write your own engine. go start an open source game engine project that supports all the new hardware tech before it comes out and see how it works out

    or do what they did in the 90's, code your own engine for every game you make
    or pay the thousands of $$$ upfront to Unity for their engine

    this is where you have to make a good game and not just a copy of the latest IAP crap in the app store or some FPS. unlike 20 years ago people are willing to license you lots of software for no upfront fee and all you have to do is make an awesome game.

    they are taking most of the financial risk of losing lots of money you may have invested in your project and you're still complaining?

    it's not just yellow, the shades they used make them look almost identical to fluke
    no one is stopping them from making cheapo stuff, just pick some different colors

    i don't know, but if you look at the pictures of both the sparkfun literally copied the color scheme

    i don't know if they designed it or just sell some chinese copy, but they could at least have changed the colors

    like a lot of old european cities paris has an old part that's a tourist trap and a new modern part where most of the work and living gets done

    NYC has like 10 million people that take the train in daily
    LA, Boston and others also have millions that take the train to work

    a lot of the cities in the US have less than a million people which isn't enough to pay for a train system

    and even with NYC traffic, there is no smog here. i remember when i grew up there was lots of smog. but with the new cars being clean and all you can look at manhattan and there is no more smog hanging over it. the sky over NYC is clearer than parts of colorado ive been to

    honestly that was the most shocking thing i've read in the last few days

    the way the europeans talk they live in ancient cities where smiling people happily bike, walk or take the train everywhere on thousand year old streets and the $8 a gallon gas makes life awesome

    except in evil USA where we suck up the world's resources driving everywhere

    a huge part of russia is people who aren't really russian but the descendents of the mongols and have closer ethnic ties to the middle east and china. getting rid of moscow and the other "russian" cities would be a blessing for them. even if they are transplanted russians, they most likely don't care about what moscow thinks thins their grandparents were sent out to the middle of no where as a punishment

    there are a few dozen nations in Europe with tiny armies compared to their populations. they need to be the ones mobilizing first to stop russia, not the USA
