almost every new ultra luxury building has 20% apartments set aside for low income people and rich people still buy condos there. granted they have separate elevators and entrances, but the lower income people here are spread around the city and not packed into ghettos like in the 60's with the public housing projects
this is off topic, but there is lots of history that shows that some of these dystopian ideas are dumb. the USA and Australia were both originally populated by criminals, slaves, and people the UK didn't want. both became greater than the mother country because people don't just give up and die.
lots of other examples from history like greece, the middle east, ancient rome where the colonies became greater than the original
MS has lost billions of $$$ on bing, x-box and other experiments funded by Windows and Office license sales which are now slowing and decreasing. microsoft has been innovating for years but not profitably. they had commercial tablets before apple, mobile devices and cloud services long before cloud became a buzz word.
apple on the other hand has a rule that every product must be profitable. even the apple tv turns a small profit.
why do i need this if there is the cloud to keep my data? why carry 1TB on my iphone when i can just pay at&t more money for more data to stream my music and netflix?
RTFA, it says the DEA submits requests for money for the program in budget documents and its a well known program for coordinating inter-state and international investigations
it was always a series of government and privately owned networks, interconnected together for some limited communication and a common naming/addressing scheme for communication
i bet hunting other animals to kill and eat them requires bigger brains than simply standing around and eating grass or leaves. i mean not like the vegesaurians want to be killed and eaten
All the three letter agencies report too congress for funding They all have their sub committees in the house and senate they testify to on a regular basis. The recommendations go to the full congress for voting
To be on one of these secret congressional committees you have to get a security clearance and the testimony is taken in a special sealed room in the Capitol building
Where do all these agencies get billions in funding if not voted by the entire congress and signed into law by the president
here in NYC i see this all the time. a lot of the newer immigrants the adult kids live with parents. kids with trust funds have lots of money to pay the rent in nice apartments and have lots of cash to spare. meanwhile all the independent minded people spend all their money on rent and living expenses and have nothing for the future then later in life the leeches get help from the old people to buy property and get further ahead in life than the perpetual renters the native americans did this too. they had huge homes where large extended family units lived and the older people helped with the kids while the younger people worked.
and in my case i'm not 40 and have almost 50% equity in my home due to living with parents a long time ago and saving some money for a down payment
you can get good kindle ebooks very cheap. sites like ereaderiq track books and authors and alert you for price drops. i bought ender's game for $5 last week. then it dropped to $3.
the only expensive books are the new releases people want to read NOW when they come out
the whole point is you take the code, do whatever you want with it and only give back your code changes. the whole point of open source is that you and your competitors both contribute to the code base and either make commodity cheapo stuff or somehow make your product stand out from the others with the same code base
OMG, they are going to make you pay to rent or buy movies instead of watching them for free
oppression
the USA has enough free space where you can buy a cheapo house in the middle of no where and grow your own food and live a self sufficient life
so why does this not work in NYC?

not to bring reality into this, but a lot of rich people rarely retire. they are always looking for new business opportunities.
spending their money to go live out a life of perpetual vacation is not something they would do
and what would be the point to have people live in space on a perpetual vacation?
what would the return on investment be?

if the rich are in the station and the poor people on earth have no money, how do the rich people make more money to pay the bills?

the last week has been pretty cool in NYC. i haven't turned on my AC in over a week. too cold to drink iced coffee.

most of the food grown in the US is not fit for human consumption. its to send off to some factory to make a food product out of it
she was the child of russian nobles who fled after the revolution
the thought of not being able to build polluting industry close to the poor people while living away from the pollution was foreign to her
did you live close to the one of the top schools in your area?
home values are proportional to the quality of the zoned school
like the people in fly over country who talk about being independent but suck up more federal funding than everyone else?
