I will respect J.R.R's memory and to the producers and actors and (almost) everyone else who made this movie possible and deserves to profit from it, but I do not believe even for one minute that his family should own the rights to his work after his death. *Let the flaming begin*...
Actually it can't. I have a ATI's TV-Wonder and although I am extremely please with it there are two features that it is lacking that any standalone PVR should have. First, it doesn't allow you to record on one channel and watch another, a trivial point, but a major incovenience. Secondly, it will not let you pause live tv, in fact it writes nothing to the hard drive unless I ask it to. And lastly, (as I understand it not every PVR does this) it lacks a 30 second/ skip ahead button. Calling WinTV a PVR is stretching it a little thin, but the prior art is still there.
My impression of SonicBlue is a good one. Not only do they make a good product, but they have stood up to law suits and other such drivel that is dangerous to fair use and personal rights (30 second/ant commercial button, etc...). They're revenue is going to come from users who decide that they need Sonic Blue's service and have a good impression of SB. If they start suing my video card's manufacturer and prevent me from using other such resources, not only is prior art going to be established and the patent is going to get thrown out, but they are going to lose my business as well as, I hope, yours.
And now for the downfalls:
First of all, the rioPort software sucks - find a better amateur solution (I like riorio).
Secondly, only 64 MB? You have to be JOKING!! Smart media isn't exactly the cheapest storage and even at 128MB Maximum capacity with the newest firmware it still sucks.
Woohoo! 10 hours of battery life and 10% of it gets sucked down the tubes everytime you format and refill the player with new songs (and you have to pretty often). There should be an A/C adapter that comes with the thing for this purpose or it should draw power from the USB port or something...
Yes, the headphones REALLY suck. They suck with the RioVolt, too...
Save your money, get a RioVolt, buy cheap CD-R's and have a bonus CD-Player to go along with it. There's a new version coming out soon that has an LCD display on the remote control. I have a car adapter for mine and a library of about 40 CD's filled with every piece of music I could ever want to listen too. The remote feature is particularly useful for the car.

Yes, this is true, but at my university we also don't care about intranet traffic only traffic that leaves to go out to the rest of the internet. A few of us have set up a DirectConnect server from neo-modus.com? and that allows us to make sure that nobody from outside the university can access our files, so the resident networking people don't care what we do, and as a result all of our downloads are about a factor of 300 faster than it would be off of napster or kazaa. It's really a win/win situation. BTW: at last count we had over 4.5 TB online! (1 TB of mostly pr0n)
Wouldn't it be funny though, if "eWalk" was a registered trademark of Apple? Then everytime I told somebody that I had an eWalk in my pants they would think I was some sort of perverted Star Wars freak....
Yes, however because the company is located in another state it is them that you are ordering from, using the internet is just a means of communication, much like mail ordering, only high tech. If the internet exists in all states simultaneously, it also exists in all countries simultaneously, and so only international law should apply.
In the same train of thought, it would be untasteful or inappropriate to give news updates as well, seeing as how that has a much more direct means of getting people to think about what has happened.
I mean, Dave Matthews Band?! Now, I've always believed that alot of those songs sucked anyway and I wished I never heard them on the radio, but choosing to ban them because they use the word crash, speed, air, or even news is just plain wrong. "I read the news today, oh boy..." - OH NO!
I can just see a deluge of restrictions and revocations in the civil liberties. Terrorists have incited the mob and the changes will be of French Revolutionary proportions. I am truly afraid. Not of the terrorists, but of the resulting hysteria.
As a point of clarity, I attended a colloquium about this at CERN in August when I was doing a beam test. It's not so much the fact that they are trying to make black holes, as they think that they have found a way to test for their creation within the LHC. So if it turns out that it DOES happen, it's something that has been going on for as long as we have been on the planet. Nothing to worry about.
Actually, the alt.binaries.* ARE binary file forums. If you don't like it, stop trying to read UUEncode et al in plain text! Additionally, not carrying these groups is going to put a very small dent in the trafficking of copyrighted material via usenet, because users are now going to have to find DIFFERENT forums to post their warez, and you should just pray to GOD that its not going to be your favorite discussion group, because then who is up a creak without a paddle? At least they are keeping the material relevant in the current setup. Looking for warez? grep warez. Since when is "public safety" the root password to the Constitution?
Unfortunately, it is due to some sort of brand loyalty. I WISH that I could get a nice elegant Athlon system from my favorite PC vendor (DELL) but they just won't do it. I have nothing but positive experiences with Dell PC's and am very reluctant to switch, but if anyone knows of another MAJOR PC vendor that bundles their systems with AMD I would be happy to look into it. But as of late, they are not THAT easy to come by. And please, spare me the "build your own system and save" replies - my time is precious. Since when is "public safety" the root password to the Constitution?

Actually, you would have a better chance claiming that they are in violation of an Intergalactic FCC. I'll bet that not a single soul at SETI has their Intergalactic 128 digit call sign! That being said, I'll bet that Sending short waves over to the edges of the Milky Way would make for one helluva moon (to moon to moon) bounce! Perhaps they have local repeater stations sitting on various planets. I'll bet that we are listening to the wrong frequencies!
Well, actually diamonds are VERY thermally conductive and INCREDIBLY good dialectrics - not to mention that they are so dense that they are probably fairly heavy as well. However, it would be pretty expensive to have Debeers custom fit your PC with a diamond casing and diamond dust, and I think it would definately encourage theft if the material was known...
Not only does it sound really cool, but how many of us leet speakers wish we could have a reason to use the phrase again? K-RAD: KDE Rasterize And Draw. Dude, that'd be totally krad.
Why do people always seem to thing that Open Source = not for profit? If this was the case, Microsoft might actually have a valid point against using the GPL.
I did that, and checked my log files. Apparently people DO check for things like post-its under the keyboard. My login: gullable, password: penii.Sure enough I saw a login attempt for user "gullable". I wonder if they got it...

Google would certainly know when the site was added to the database and so perhaps they could normalize the votes over a period of time...
