    This is not a flame nor a troll. I must defend Ralph Nader.

    Nader LIED

    What? What did he lie about? Are you saying that his opinion that the two political parties are growing more and more similar is a lie? It is a simple opinion. Perhaps if he used incorrect data, misquoted a candidate, etc. it would be a lie. But his personal opinion is not a lie. It's the way he sees things. He was not saying they were exactly the same on all issues; that is absurd. On important issues, Gore did not take a strong stance, or he took the wrong stance (in the eyes of many voters). The 3% of the voters who voted for Nader weren't fooled. They weren't stupid. They knew exactly what happened.

    In fact, 40% of Nader voters would have voted for Gore in polls close to the election. The polls showed Nader at around 5%, +- 1%. His actual showing was around 3%, about 40% less than expected. Gore had a scare campaign that did nothing to dispute Nader's opinions. All it did was scare voters of Bush. Vote for Gore! He's not Bush! Is that all he was? No; he did not want to remind voters that his positions on the issues were not that of the votes he wanted. He "lied" (using your definition) much, much more than did Nader.

    Gore didn't support finance reform. Why? Because he's a corporate tool. He wanted funds from wherever he could get them so he could beat Bush, even if it meant selling out to corporations. If he sells out, he can't protect the environment so well. (Although I don't think he would destroy it so much as Bush, but the sitution is constantly deteriorating and somethintg must be done). With neither major party supporting finance reform, Ralph Nader steps in. He is a product with voters fed up with the way financing works. His target was the nonvoters: half the eligible population.

    And, if you keep voting for the lesser of two evils;
    1. You are still voting for evil
    2. They will become more and more evil to compete with each other, if you keep voting for them.

    Tyranny would be things like the government throwing people off land because it's declared 'a preserve'.

    So, standing by while America strip mines every available source of income on the planet is leadership, while protecting other species and habitats is tyranny?

    Assuming you're referring to the Alaska wildlife reserve, you are being rediculous. According to Harper's, April 2001, if the average fuel mileage of SUVS alone were increased by an average of 15% (less than 3 mpg) per vehicle, we would save more than enough oil than that which is in the entire reserve, annually. SUV mileage/size is not regulated since it is essentially a big car on top of a pickup chassis, and considered a car for work. The auto/oil industry bought $56 million over 7 years' worth of votes to not regulate them. In 1999, a bill that would actually prevent Congress from regulation passed Congress. Environmentalists got over 1/3 of the Senate to support the veto and pleaded with Clinton, but Clinton signed it so Detroit (and Michigan) would go to Gore.

    Allowing industry to suck oil dry is not tyranny. Tyranny is allowing corporations to have power over the people, and over every imaginable portion of nature left on the planet.

    Punk? Shoved in the same category as teen pop? Punk is about rebelling from the norm (I know, you know some "punks" who are jackasses/idiots/the same as preps... great). Punk idealizes the very same ideas you are writing about. Punk is about not taking shit, doing what you want... freedom. Maybe some kids at your high school like punk rock and dye their hair. AOL bans people for ping flooding, bombing, etc. but I know AOL re-admits these people fairly quickly. My sister's friend got banned from AOL because their brother tried at some lame attempt to hack the Pentagon or something. But you know what? After banning them, AOL let them right back in. Here's an example from the story: Qwest deactivated the account, but is leaving the door open to reinstatement

    I'm not saying that this ISP will let him back in, but they might. If they were paid to not let him/her back in, then they probably wouldn't, but otherwise you can't know if he'll be re-accepted as a costomer.
