what you dont realize is... all mmorpg death penalty is ultimately a hit on players time. the gold/xp lost upon death can all be gained back w/ players time. before wow went public beta the choice upon death was between taking an xp loss or retrieve your body. and sometimes taking the xp loss and using the time you saved to gain back the lost xp was LESS than the time you spent traveling back to retrive your body. most players dont realize this tho, wow did a good job "hiding" the death penality as most players have an easier time accepting the time loss "travling" vs killing mobs for xp. ultimately the death slowed down your chars progression and maked you the player spend more time playing the game.
i'll bite.. by your logic it'd allow ppl like MPAA and RIAA to sue the creater of bittorrent (just a networking protocal for efficient file distribution) because its primaryly used to distribute illegal bootleged movies and such. do you see the problem? they should be going after the ppl who pirate their games. bnetd is just an alternative to their battelnet servers. its not there fault that the ppl who uses it pirated blizzard games. i remember at some point they even tried to work w/ blizzard and impliment their cdkey check system into bnetd which of course was turned down by blizzard.
"These alerts are designed to inform any user who conducts specific searches on these networks to locate and download the source code that such activity is illegal..."
so whats next? are they going to work with google to track down anyone who searches for something to the effect of "ms windows warez" and tracking them down and send a warning telling them dling pirated isos is illegal?
in other news.. google goes ipo.. and microsoft buys up all shares w/ their $50+ billion in cash... hmmm...
by your logic... anything intangible like ideas cannot be stolen.. only copied. yet the phrase "stealing ideas" is generally accepted when one person takes (copy) an idea from another. If you look up the definition of the word steal in dictionary.com..
steal ( P ) Pronunciation Key (stl) v. stole, (stl) stolen, (stln) stealing, steals v. tr.
To take (the property of another) without right or permission. To get or effect surreptitiously or artfully: steal a kiss; stole the ball from an opponent. To move, carry, or place surreptitiously. To draw attention unexpectedly in (an entertainment), especially by being the outstanding performer: The magician's assistant stole the show with her comic antics. Baseball. To advance safely to (another base) during the delivery of a pitch, without the aid of a base hit, walk, passed ball, or wild pitch.
there is nothing that says explictly about loss of possession being a requirement for stealing to take place... While i do agree with your logic given your definition of the word steal.. but what i'm not sure about is whether your defintion of the word is really the generally accepted definition. languages are defined by the people who use them. if there are enough ppl who interpret the word steal w/o the association of loss of possession being a requirement then copying a book might as well be the same as stealing one... just my 2 cents.
umm... the actual terminal velocity changes depending on many things, not only you mass but also your shape. The reason you stop accelerating is because of air drag.. so if you are in a postion that has a high air resistant.. your terminal velocity can be considerablly slower than your terminal velocity in an aerodynamic position

This article reminds me of a discussion I had w/ one of my friend about burning a huge number of cds with every possible combination of bits that can be contained on a 74min length cd. The result is really mind boggling. You can have say a cd containing, pictures files of your future kids, wife, anyone imagineable, in jpg, bmp, or any other file format. Same can be said with video, audio, movies, games, software. Imagine the next hit album of , the next matrix and star wars movie (in vcd format only tho =) did i also mention doom3 and quake4, or even porn of ! Its really weird when you think about something like heh.
I fail to see the difference between Europeans downloading something from America and Americans downloading something from Europe.
We do have the internet over here, you know.
not quite... i received the cd key via emal on the 8th.. since then i've been continously trying to get the game.. and so far this is what i have..

and that was after over 10 hours of dl at 1.something k/s.. notice that i havent been able write to the file for over 24 hours.. why is that?.. becuase the all of the servers are either full or down.. most of them only allow 50 simutanious logins.. compare that to say one of microsofts servers that allows for 10,000 simutanious logins.. the difference becomes obvious: most eurpean servers just doesnt have the bandwidth to serve as many people as the american ones..
Parent post needs to be modded up, and grandparent down...
