Its interesting, but to be honest I prefer shows that you develop an intimate relationship with the characters. Most of the characters on BG are interesting and provoking, but not all that likable.
Well of course, either way its still phyically impossible for the entire system to detonate like a nuclear bomb. But the new control rod systems that make it phyiscally impossible to pull the control rods up past a certain point definatly make it much harder to have a meltdown. The way a nuclear plant is designed now if the entire safty system were to fail, the process would grind to a halt rather than go critical like older system. Yes the new systems do require more work to keep the process going, but thats half the point.
What are you assuming the whole place is going to blow up. Read up on exactly how modern nuclear energy plants are constructed. Its extremly safe, yes I would have one in my backyard. Three mile island was a cause of numerous safty equipment being turned off, before running a dangerous test that required the safty equipment to be on. Something that modern setups have eliminated the problem for. Either way it was estimated that the damage cost where about 1 Billion, and almost all of that cost was damage to the facility as there was very little radiation leaked outside the gates. Either way Trinoble was a fault of building the reactor very very very cheaply and seriously could not happen again.
Not all of the new cylons are of human appearance. There is a mix of old style cylons and human style cylons in the show. There are also new spaceships that are cylons (meaning the ship is its body, so it doesn't have a pilot). So I'm guessing the cylons have masters biology and are designing themselves to whatever function is needed.
Doesn't mean some of them don't have a heart. Either way I know that in the original book it was as I described it. The religious part has become obvious in the new series, but they havn't eluded to the idea that the war is for this reason. So how the writters of the new series take this I cannot assume.
Basically all you need to know is that the cylons are religious and believe that its their god given destiny to destroy man for his wicked ways. After the first war they made a treaty to leave eachother alone (the humans didn't realize that it was a religious war and thought the cylons just wanted their freedom.. they still don't understand this). The hot chick the guy keeps dreaming about was one of the new cylons who are perfect human replicas. She worked with him in the defense ministry as a spy and suduced him into giving her access to many secrets. She obtained secret codes that could be used to shut down any defenses. This is how the cylons made their attack and were so successful and they nuked every major city in several different human controlled worlds. Battlestar Galactica was a large carrier ship from the first war, as was in the process of a decommisioning celebration when the attack happend. It was the only one that survived as it had resisting having any new computer components especially any networks installed on it, as was the protocol in the first war. So the deactivating codes didn't work on it. So it and an enterage of other ships that had come for the celebration are the only surviving military group left and humanities only hope.
http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/fact -sheets/funds.html Nuclear power plants have to purchase $300 million in insurance which is about $400,000 a year in cost per reactor. Not cheap, I don't know if prices can fluctuate between different plants depending upon their safty history, but its definatly possible.
I always wanted to buy a hybrid and try to rig solar power panels to the roof and hood. Unfortunatly I havn't been able to figure out a way to modify the programming to take advantage of this additional electricity, as the current models tend to like to keep the battery pretty full, leaving no room for solar cells to add to the system.
As well as the insurance cost, a nuclear plant with an accident even if its fixable, might not be able to continue running after its insurance premiums skyrocket.
You can apply for a credit card with it, and if you really know the system you can get a valid drivers license and other forms of ID and litterly become that other person. Its called identity theft, generaly its done with SSN.
I was just joking actually. I know this argument and agree with it. Though there may be some emulation for some of the lower level calls. Either way an emulator is software the "emulates" an operating environment, and that is exactly what wine is doing, its emulating the Windows environments. While GTK is only emulating itself.
Yes, Clinton "supported" stem-cell research. But the support never came into effect. During the 2000 campain I believe the rules were adjusted and funding became available, though I believe that no funding actually was given during this short amount of time. One could even argue that such a policy was implemented so that actual funding wouldn't happen until 2001, thus passing the buck to Bush.
Whats really amazing is that this is research done in India, which is totally non affected by the US federal resistrictions. So to make any comment on how federal resistriction are hampering this research and how it could have been done better with embryonic cells is just saying that they are smarter than these scientist. While yes maybe india also has a similar ban, there are places in the world that don't, but yet more and more these operations being don't with adult or umbilical cells.
So an opinion piece by an anti-Bush activist is making the final declaration on when life starts. Something that most doctors and scientist can't agree on?
Reserve price does have a purpose, especially for high end items. Lets say I want to sell a car, but I'm not willing to take less than $10,000 for it, it never reaches its reserve price, but the highest bidder if $9,000. I can then contact that person and accept their bid anyways, or I can relist it. Personally I think reserve prices should be publically viewable, so people can have a reasonable idea of whats nessesary to win, but still bid lower if they feel that the reserve is unreasonable.
Also from a single app standpoint you may not see a significant increase in speed. But when running several apps like most desktops do nowadays, you should see a good increase.
Exactly, currently we are maxing out at around 4GHz, expecting a 6.5GHz chip to appear soon is unrealistic, btw I think you meant %50 percent faster, because 150% faster than 4GHz would be 10GHz, while the 6.5GHz would be approimatly compariable to performace with a dual core 4GHz.
Though it will be interesting to see how AMD markets a dual core 4GHz, would they call it a 6500+ if it preformes what would be comparible to a single 6.5GHz chip?
If your talking about the demo chip with the crazy water cooling to get it up to 1GHz, that really isn't a fair comparision. Wow remember when 1GHz was the holy grail.
Also with dual core memory controller on chip has the distint advantage of being able to share that on chip memory. Meaning core to core communication is significantly faster than chip to chip communication.

Really, I thought that might be the case, do they ever directly reveal this fact?

The problem with liquid mercury is that even a quick dip fills up your skin pours and this your skin can't breath. Death quickly follows this.
Actually it states that there is a secondary pool of 8.6 billion of damages exceed $300 million.
Mini-Series Spoiler ALERT!!!!!

Bullshit and GNU is not Unix.....

I thought your meant EV1 as in the electric car. But then you mentioned SCO, so I'm not confused. What is this EV1 you talk of?
