Well you can show standing if you can prove you WILL be affected by this bad law. But the possibility that you will be indirectly affected or have a minor effect is of no consequence to the courts. As such this suit could be brought by manufactures which will be directly affected. While individual consumers will also be directly affected legally your only effect will be loosing your right to copy copyrighted material. Possibly a violation of fair use, but nothing directly putting you in court, especially as this law only makes it illigal to produce and distribute, not to use broadcast ignorning devices.
Personally I'm surprised we havn't seen any federal grants here yet, if the federal government is spending billions to insure the worlds oil suppy, it seems as they would provide some grants to such an operations. Easily bringing the cost to the producers under $50 dollars a barrel. Who here is up for writing their congresscritters!
Starcraft is wildly popular in south korea, there are frequent Televised matches with large prizes. Blizzard is still milking this cash cow, expect continued updates as long as its selling. BTW that fact that there was an update really isn't news starting last year Blizzard started updating starcraft (they had stopped a few years prior) and has been doing so regularly sense.
Yes, they update the UI/features occasionally, though the DirecTiVo lags way behind on these updates (luckly there are some hacks out there now to update the DirecTiVo to newer software).
The subscription cost isn't all that high, its about the same as most people pay for premium content such as HBO, or to upgrade from analog to digital cable. Either way consider TiVo doesn't make any money on the boxes themself and really only makes about 150 a year per suscriber considering the overhead in maintaining modem lines and selling these boxes as little or negative profit.
Well it happends in third world countries all the time with what we call "War Lord" fighting for domain over different areas, many examples in Samalia, or the Taliban taking over in Afganistan for instance. In industrialized nations yes it is much harder to take over, though if one left the current adminstration in power and simply took over as President many people would roll over and accept it.
Well thats not really a comparision between cable and satallite but between your cable provider and Dish Network. Dish Network and DirecTV differ in many ways.
Dish Network 1) Less expensive 2) More channels
DirecTV 1) More expensive (they just upped the rates again 45 dollars for their middle tier plan, which included all none premium channels, 42 for less channels (basically most of the difference is many discovery, DIY, food network type channels)) 2) Much much better customer support. 3) The installation people are professional and friendly, sadly the "authorized dealer" that installed my system sucked and never gave me my installation rebate, but by the time I went to order TiVo which needed a second line installed, the new installation company was very good and I didn't need to pay anything upfront and wait for a rebate, I was told that they dropped many of their dealers which were previously lackluster 4) Less channels, but apparently they are launching more satallites soon to provide an extremly large amount of HD channels, though it appears that they arn't going to expand their normal channel lineup ever.
Most of the DirecTV subscribers are paying per month as its only $5 a month, and DirecTV doesn't really offer a lifetime subscription. Though if you had one of the early generation lifetime subscriptions to TiVo before moving over to DirecTiVo, you could transfer your subscription. Now the subscriptions are only transferable to the same model tivo so they don't transfer to an upgrade or from a regular TiVo to a DirecTiVo. Either way you would still have to pay the almost 5 dollars a month charge DirecTV charges for additional boxes (assuming you have more than one) a charge which is waved if you are paying the $5 dollars for the TiVo box. So basically it makes sense to have the lifetime if its your only box, otherwise it doesn't. Either way at $5 dollars a momth you would have to have it for 5 years (at the $299.00 lifetime subscription rate, of course discounts are available) before you would make your money back, not really a good deal.
Well they didn't become quite so heavily armed till after WWI when they were overrun badly. Essentially now not only do you have compulsary military service, you in effect never leave the military. Every man, woman, and even older children are expected to be able to handle a weapon and defend their country. In effect to take over their country you would have to kill every single citizen. A completly moranic thing that no military would attempt as once you've taken over the country you would have noone to rule. I guess someday if land becomes scare enough, someone may try, because thats all you would win.
For now, few may use it, but as time goes on more and more people are using it. This is basically the same argument as public roads vs private roads with toll booths. I can understand the argument for allowing private roads to be built on private land, even the argument to shutting out government competition. But in areas of high traffic like downtown, where most traffic is government anyways, its absolutly essential that government be allowed to build roads that everyone can freely use.
What you say? Almost most roads nowadays are government controlled. What else you say, most broadband carriers are using lines that government granted money for in the first place?
Actually from what I understand the EU is fighting more and more to become more centralized like the states. Most of the people of the individualized countries don't want this to happen, but their governments do. Thankfully the swiss will continue to hold out, as well as Norway, though Norway may eventually become part of the EU, I'm sure the swiss will hold out for a long time. It will be funny to see the EU become one country someday and try to say that they have soveringty over the land in the middle called Switzerland. That'll be one interesting fight as its hard to find people more willing to die for their countries soveringty than the swiss.
Opps sorry for this tangent, discussion of the EU just got me thinking about the swiss in the middle problem.
In reply to your sig, because he was more of a Dixicrat anyways. Either way a party is a group of people who basically believe the same way, so it makes sense for them to drift toward a central idea as people who disagree with that idea leave the party. What suprises me is that no third moderate party has formed from this.
Better than swap houses with your neighbor, get your neighbor to sign up and then share with them. If they don't wanta sign up just offer to cover 100% of the cost then share with others in the neighborhood.
Of course I'd LOVE to see Gator try and prosecute an individual for removing Gator from their system. Either way a format and reinstall will always do it, and I'd have a hard time beliving that would violate your EULA.
Well of course you can't prosecute companies for spyware that is already on existing systems. But you can specify that these types of contracts are not valid for the future.
Thankfully Googles creators kept control after IPO, yes if total control was left to the board I wouldn't trust me either. But seriously you already trust corperations like your bank with your money. If an individual within a corperation has bad intentions and harms you, you can complain or even sue if you have to, and if the corperation itself is managed by responsible people things will be taken care of. On the other hand if the management has proven that they are only interested in getting by with whatever underhanded thing they can, that is another story.
I guess I'm just rambling but yes Corperations arn't people and you do have a point, but I will continue to trust most people untill they have proven themselves otherwise, and that includes Corperations. (though of course I'm not going to give a strange corperation I don't know about much more chance to screw me than I will give the begger on the street, you have to make judgement calls sometimes too)
I seriously question the amount of weight that a seatbelt adds. Either way I get your point.
Big Charts Graph of SCO for last 2 years
Well on several trading websites SCOX brings up SCXC
I'm not sure why.
Umm the EFF is then plantiff in this case along with the ALA.
Doing fine? Their current stock value is sco 4.06 that compares to 20 dollars a year and half ago.
Note: anyone looking for SCO look up SCOXE, it used to be SCOX, but now SCOX is someone else.... very confusing.

Do you know this for a fact? :) Yes it can handle just about everything but it should be tuned to efficiently handle certain task.
Dr. Spock btw is a completly different person, and actually came first.. but you knew that :)

Interesting, this is the first I've heard of this case. Can anyone find any more links to this? Is the EFF involved, they need to be.

Thankfully Googles creators kept control after IPO, yes if total control was left to the board I wouldn't trust me either. But seriously you already trust corperations like your bank with your money.
