I thought a part of the Napster opinion was that a significantly large share of their material was infringing. Now I know this isn't true for Youtube as it seems most of their content is user created. But expect Viacom to use this argument.

Dell has a record of the License code they gave to you. Hopefully they deactivated the license. I wouldn't be surprised if Dell machines connected to Dell itself for the license server, though I don't know if this is true.

On Vista for corperate installs, you now have to install a Microsoft provided license server on one machine (your domain controller most likely) your individual machines then connect to that server for verification.

  3. Re:Automation on Dell Refunds Vista/Works With Two Emails · · Score: 2, Informative

No need to wipe the Vista install anyways. Vista is now perfectly legal to install on ANY machine without a license. It sets up an automatic trial installation and you can then purchase the license before the trial is over. So installing Vista on new hardware for burn in testing even if the customer isn't going to buy Vista is not a problem.

I get really tired of people who complain about pagination. If you need your pages to flow exactly in a certain way you need to put page breaks and other controls in there. Someone sometimes is doing to change the font slightly or add a few words. Neither should throw your entire document out of wack and make you redo the whole thing. Page breaks, especially odd and even breaks are there for you..

It doesn't really, it just shows her as the established canidate and that we don't have to accept that. How is that a vicious attack.

Nope, the Napster lawsuit hinged on infringing content being their primary content. Napster has SOME legal content, but it was the minority. Youtubes content is primarily non infringing . Go read the Napster case, really the that was the major breaking point was the fact that the infringing content was most of it.

  15. Re:Bad deal on Why Google Wanted a YouTube Lawsuit · · Score: 4, Insightful

its not "fair use" for whom? If the courts see Google and simply a carrier then the infringement is being done by the users and not Google. As long as Google takes down any infringments upon notice they are abiding by DMCA. So far the really popular videos on youtube have mostly been homemade stuff that sometimes includes a small bit of soundtrack. These are "fair use" under many interpretations, and Google making ad money from these videos is fine.

What would be interesting is if the courts declare that any ad money made from infringing videos has to be collected and given to the owner.

The Prius batteries are well known to last 200K miles and more. And only the military Hummers last 300K miles the commercial version doesn't even come close.
