Umm if the explanation can't be tested, it is religion. Observation, we don't know where everything came from? Oh it must have been created by God.. SCIENCE!
well we could just change the 802.11 part to something else. No biggie. BTW h,i,j,k,l,m were all used at SOME point. Some more than others.
(Don't remember all of them myself I know i was an improved encryption scheme, j was japanesse support k was extra node hopping, etc.. all or most of which is going into n)
Because when it gets down to the highly theoretical stuff like this that no one will ever truly be able to prove, its not much different than religion. And religions being what they are.. like to fight amongst themselves.
How exactly does digital TV lower costs for consumers?
More expensive TVs, obsoleted equipment, more expensive cable contracts, monthly rental for cable boxes, less freedom.
We aren't talking about digital cable. Cable companies already provide you with converter boxes. We are talking about digital free over the air reception. For someone who currently uses rabbit ears and gets maybe 6 channels in the average city, if they bought the digital converter boxes today without buying a new TV or anything else, they would now get at least 12 channels, and much better reception. All at absolutely no cost and with no cable bill.
Shrugs, guess it leaves them up to the honesty of the buyer. Scary hu. So far a lot of independant games are selling well from what I've seen. Though even more have gone to advertising and subscription models.
No hardcore is going to lose online play in a good game like Doom 3 just to save a few bucks. Simply put the game sucked and it didn't have a good online play system deserving of its name. Simply put you have to great a compelling online experience to sell a AAA title on the PC. If you want to look towards single player only, go for the consoles. But what does this have to do with Quake Wars, a mostly online game?
Technically yes, as Samba is based on SMB it is amateur. You should be looking towards something more like NFS or other tried and true Unix solutions.:)
Do we really need more WWII video games? Its been 60 years already..
Even though star wars is fictional it provides a good storyline/plot for a game as is fairly ingrained into many peoples imagination. If you want something thats not so real, how bout Middle Earth style stories. Elves have been done to death. But guess what, we are gonna see more stories with them as a plotline. Guaranteed.
No H1B requires competitive pay. What really angers me is that removal or decreasing of H1Bs would force companies to do something about the vast amounts of unused smart people that already exist in this country who simply for one reason or another have not been able to receive the training that would be necessary. But instead of companies helping to improve education in this country so that they can have a qualified work force, they are allowed to use another countries education system instead. Sad really, as the money that any country puts into its education is intended to help the citizens of that country, not necessarily to help that citizen leave the country to find a better job elsewhere. So in turn we are actually hurting the US and other countries who are losing these talented folks.
Yea, if a law overrides another law it states so. Whats really fun is when a law unintentionally contradicts another law without intending to or with any notice:)
Both, many blackholes release gamma ray burst in streams which travel very long distances. Apparently our galactic center also releases gamma rays. If you read the article the Slashdot summary doesn't even seem to come from it, the article is about a computer model of Sagittarius A confirming this predicted action.
Yes... 3 year investigation. 10 employees who get paid 100K each is 3 million dollars over 3 years.
Plus air travel and other crap. Government spends a million just wiping its butt, thats just what happens with large entities that have no direct income for their actions.
It is a legal issue for a consulting firm to be able to promise that they aren't gonna screw up your machines. If someone sues they can say.. Hey.. your tech didn't even have their A+. Its all about CYA.
As other posters said, the A+ by many manufactures is considered a warranty issue. Meaning if someone messes inside the hardware doesn't have the A+ they can say it voids the warranty (this is for high end stuff not typical desktops). Stupid as it may be your boss would be a moron for not covering his ass legally. I'm sure there are some lawyers out there who view the bar as below them but its required to practice law. Sure no states require the A+, but consider it in the same realm at least.
While I agree certifications are meaningless, every tech employer I've met still requires A+. It might not get you a job anymore, but you'll have a hard time getting and interview otherwise.

Maybe you can use your cellphone while driving. But surly you can't text while driving safely which is discussion.
I think the joke is that the parent poster was looking at drivers with their cellphones instead of looking at the road themselves.

No comments and the poll is already down.

But it also encouraged piracy, and whos gonna pirate a game then turn around and buy it if it was only soso.
A well done demo MIGHT have tricked some in.
From what I remember they didn't release a Demo until a few weeks after the official game was out. Talk about sales suicide.

Yea, come over here and tell my boss that... dumbass.
You're allowed to work an actual 8 hours?.. I'm jealous. Here I'm forced to take an unpaid lunch. :)
I'd go for double daylight savings if I could.
:)
Why don't you just ask your boss if you can work 6-3

I've read many hints that Google allows comanpies to host their own google apps. While it may seem silly, its something that could be done.

The fine was 12.5 million I was just showing how easily and quickly money can be spent.
