    Of course, the idea is more to make sure that the kids have food and clothing.

    The easiest way to keep it from being a reward is probably to have a stronger social support system in general (and it would be a fine experiment to see if reducing need made a dent in crime).

    I didn't have too much trouble tracking down a MSDOS 5.0 compatible driver that would talk to the network card in Virtualbox (was messing around getting ancient Win 3.1 image talking to the internet).

    Estate taxes really aren't a big deal, there is a $5 million exemption right now.

    That can be problematic when a family is trying to pass on a rather asset locked small business, but most people would be happy with the problem of paying taxes on their multimillion dollar small business.

    Turning your question around, why should a restaurant have to buy potatoes out of money that has already been taxed?

    What purpose is served by including the cost of a revenue tax in the price of french fries?

    The information booklet that goes with the standard tax forms has a table.

    The government does not generally provide any description of the taxes paid in each bracket.

    And there really are people who think that shifting into a higher tax bracket is some sort of negative life event, as if all of their income will be taxed at the new rate.

    It might, but the hundreds of calories that our bodies consume every day are relatively huge when you are talking about a device that needs a few milliwatts.

    Read up on countries that have had currency crises. So fiat currency isn't backed by so much more than a promise that the system is cryptographically solid.

    I would pin the problem on there not being any standing capabilities intended for when the blow out preventer fails.

    So sure, they would benefit from more robotic capabilities, but their capture solutions were waaaay to improvised, removing part of the stack and clamping on should be an eventuality that is engineered into the system.

    The complexity of the surrounding sentence certainly invites poor reading.

    The summary isn't particularly ambiguous, the part "it has now been revealed that they have apparently employed deep packet inspection (DPI) to monitor customers' use of WhatsApp (and also VoIP services) â" which happens to be illegal in the Netherlands." is quite clear and it takes quite a lot of squinting to think the 'illegal' is somehow referring further back into the sentence.

    And then there is the part where your assumed illegality of not using text messages somehow automatically justified the deep packet inspection.

    Could you explain what was illegal about not using text messages?

    (If you are reading it from the summary, the 'illegal' in the summary refers to the use of deep packet inspection.)

    It isn't any more outrageous just because it is a baby.

    Do you really think someone with the will and desire to kill a few hundred or thousand other humans would be reluctant to use a child to accomplish that goal?

    (I'm not supporting the pat downs in general, just pointing out that there is nothing less risky about children; and most of them do have a guardian to speak for them, hopefully TSA procedure would have allowed the family to walk away rather than have the baby inspected)
