God exists. He created everything. The fact that you are alive and reading this is an example of His grace.

Fair enough. Now anser this: What created God?

Okay, unlike most people, I do feel in a public place a filter needs to be put in. The main problem with these filters is that you are given a set of sites that are marked evil, and no one has any idea what it is. So why not create a filter with all the sites that are blocked easy to edit (by an admin)?

No new filtering software even needs to be created. Just use a proxy. Filtering proxies like junkbuster, or even cacheing proxies like squid have this ability.

Start by denying all, and add sites as requested. Easy as that.

    yup,

and this would be trivial for the ISP to implement allowing parents to check the logs to their own connection using a web form.

I like this idea far more than mandatory filtering by ISPs/libraries/whatever. Give the parents the ability to see what their kids are doing and make it easy for them to use.

Parents should be responsible for repremanding the children going places the parents don't want them to go. Not the ISPs.

I think your interpretation of what Bush said is way off the mark. While I was watching the debate, it was pretty clear to me that Bush believes that parenting/society is to blame, not the internet, media, etc. I think he used the word internet with a little bit of sarcasm.

The mac interface is just as bad as windoze. Windoze using the mac 'finder' idea as a start menu is dumb. TERRIBLE interface! I wish everyone would stop making their environments use that crap!

If you want a good interface, OS/2's WPS has been far superior for many many many years. EVERYTHING works TOGETHER the way you would expect it to. Objects are really objects, and each individual one can be modified.

But with IBM doing so much work for the linux community lately, maybe we'll get lucky and see a WPS on linux. One can only dream.

There is a difference I am afraid. Apple can legally bundle its software with its own hardware since it manufactures both. M$ does not manufacture the hardware (thank goodness) and to force such bundling practices is a restraint of trade.

Which is one of the big reasons the motherfuckers have been in court the past 2+ years!

Why then, can't we find PC's preloaded in the market with OS/2, BeOS, etc?

Microsoft destroyed any and all competition, and now the only alternative to pre-installed windoze is pre-installed NOTHING, even if I want a PC with those other superior OS's.

If I were a store owner, I'd simply explain the situation to the customers, and show them my lovely set of equally functional without all the extra crap line of cobra radios.

They are cheaper and better, so why even bother with motorola? The dealers can sell Cobra (or any other brand) instead. Fuck motorola.

Remember that a lot of the memory IE uses won't be attributed to IE itself. IE uses all the windows native libraries that are running all the time. If you use Netscape a lot, simply load it on system start.
