  1. Woo hoo on Spielberg (And Kubrick)'s A.I. · · Score: 1

I've seen the previews for AI a couple of times now, and it does look quite interesting. I'm SURE it will be better than Bicentennial Man.

  2. I wonder... on Doubleclick Clear of FTC Probe · · Score: 3

How much did Doubleclick have to pay the FTC to drop the probe? Hmmmm...maybe somebody at doubleclick used their privacy violation skills to dig up some pics of the FTC director's wife with a 12 year old Guatamalan boy.

  3. Good God no!!! on Quake For The iPaq · · Score: 1

Oh wonderful, now iPaq users can practice killing each other in their offices through playing Quake. Don't people realize this is an evil game which teachers murder and mayhem and causes so much hurt and loss. Can't they do their mergers and aquisitions without Quake? What would Patrick Bateman do?

  4. Re:PLEASE tell me you're not serious! on Application Service Providers Or Consultants? · · Score: 1

No they f'ing didn't fix them. They added more 'features' which further screw with your pages. What I love is editing text and watching other random bits of text change fonts and font sizes. FP2K sucks arse.

  5. Holy shizzat on Cringley: Chip Manufacturing To Radically Change · · Score: 1

I know where e-machines will be buying their motherboards now. Sounds hokey to me.

  6. Help hire your replacement on Where Should Company Loyalty End? · · Score: 1

That's right - assist in hiring your replacement then get out of there. It is not your problem or your responsibility if somebody under you just got a new house or a new car. You said that everyone in the company pretty much knows what is going on anyway. There is no harm in trying to better yourself.

  7. Great parody material on Laser-equipped 747 · · Score: 2

I'd love to see the Zucker brothers make another Airplane! movie based on this story. I'd go see it.

  8. Steve rules on A Basket Full of Apple News · · Score: 2

Steve Jobs is so much cooler than Bill Gates. I think Jobs would actually kick your ass if you called him a dork, while Gates would just mouth off about how he is not/has never been/and doesn't see how he could be a dork.

  9. Not so bad at some on Campus Speech Restrictions · · Score: 1

I attended Mississippi State University and they have an area like this right next to the post office, and diagonally accross from the student union. It's a very visible place and right next to one of the highest foot-traffic area on campus. People preaching/yelling from this area could be heard a good 60-75 yards in any direction.

  10. Will it never end on Verio Tries to Terminate Register.com's Accreditation · · Score: 1

Let's face it...spam will never end because there is an bottomless resource of stupid people out there. As long as there are fat lonely chicks sending out forwards and reading EVERYTHING - there will be spam.

  11. Boo ya! on Register.com Wins Preliminary Injunction Against Verio · · Score: 1

Finally, a spammer is getting what's due to them. I sometimes write spammers back and tell them I'm turning them, especially when they try to sell me mp3's of rap albums or some crap like that. I actually reported one guy to the RIAA. Hahahahah. He was trying to sell me Eminem bootlegs....he deserved getting busted for pushing that junk. Snoogans.

  12. It all depends on Techies Saying No To College · · Score: 1

In most tech related fields, I've found that work experience and certifications are worth far more than a degree. Having a degree basically means you read a couple of books and showed up for class - it doesn't mean you know anything. Work experience is a key here. There is a big difference between knowing HOW to do something and having actually done it.
