    I agree that it is relocated emissions, but I don't agree that it is a net increas in total emissions. The power plants, even coal, produce less emsission per power produced than an internal combustion auto.

    Highly unlikly that one government employee has access or reason to access both your social security data and your tax return, since they are seperate organizations.

    There is a cross-corolation key, but as far as I know there has been no public knowledge of the databases being jointly mined. Not to say that it doesn't happen, but it isn't supposed to.

    Oracle 9 isn't too proven very new as a matter of fact. So you going to use oracle 7, it's been around a while. Though you can't get support?

    Voting for no one is much more of a statement than not voting. Not voting is an easily ignored statment that can be blown of as apathy. If you explicitly vote for no one, then you are saying something.

    I don't think it is the programmers who drop the ball on using this methodology. I wish places I have worked did. What happens is management deems that the process takes too long and says can't you just plug out something kinda like this?

    I really think it should be e- on all e-words not because I don't think they are real words, but as the number of e-words grows it may be hard to determine if it is an e-word or some strange word that begins with e. The hyphen makes it stand out as a seperate sound, which shows it's importance as a representation of an entire word.

    Neither precludes the other. No amount of science can preclude the idea of a higher being guiding the process. And the existance of a higher being doesn't preclude science exploring the way the universe works. So in my openion there is no debate or even a reason to debate which is right because they aren't in conflict.

    An operating system is the software that comes with a computer (or OS distribution) that programmers and users need to make themselves productive.

    Too bad this isn't big news. If one congressman can't go without contridicting himself how can we expect an entire body of them to do it.

    There are too many examples of congressional contridictions to site all of them, but my favorite is the tobaco industry is evil, lets spend money to stop smoking, but subsidize tobaco farmers

    That's the problem with proof. Information on the web is so fleeting, pages change daily, and there are very few ways to know what a page said yesterday let alone 3 years ago.

    The best thing you could have is dated backups, though I doubt those stand up in court. Very easy to fake a date.

    What would it take to prove prior art?

    The body of information is too big to research by yourself. There is no place you can go and see what technology everyone came up with. If you want a piece of information that is not readily indexed in an "In a nutshell" book, information like did anyone ever do this, ask the public, they have the widest knowledge base.

    This isn't sloth this is efficency.

    If more companies would spend good money on chairs maybe they would have less workmans comp, maybe insurance premiums would be lower. My back hurts so much I can't sit for an hour anymore, I think it is due to these cheap chairs that many companies stick programmers in.

    There is a store with cool chairs but once again cost is very high, but what is the real cost of not buying good chairs

    Well at least games are healthier than TV. When your are watching tv you burn less calories than if you are asleep, and you normally hava a low brain function. Video games either keep you physically active, if reflex games, or mentally active if strategy, or both in a few rare cases

    You may not always be aware that something you have done is a threat to your privacy. Many programs write logs you may not be aware of, or you may have a phone number in a letter that could later piss off your friend when someone else gets their phone.

    You don't always know what could be used against you later, so if you encrypt everything, then you didn't accidentally miss something.

    If UV radiation is so detrimental to organic matter (not life) how did it survive it's trek through space with 0 protection from the suns rays for millions of years to land on earth.

    Now I agree that there was probably no life on earth during the time of little atmospheric protection, but no organic matter surviving is a crock

    I think one of the major stress differences is exercise. In a physical "mind numbing" job you may have stress, but you have lifting, moving, or doing something to help your body burn off the chemicals produced when you stress to use some of the fight of flight. Sitting at a cube and stressing allows those same chemicals to build up and then start producing side effects(upset stomach, rapid heart beat ...)

    I find the best thing when I am down and or stressed is to get out of the office and walk 2 or 3 miles during lunch. It helps.

    IMO there are no NP problems, only NP solutions. There are many problems we can't think of P solution for, but until we know everything there is to know we don't know for sure that there isn't another way to solve a problem.

    I think it would be most usefull going to other solar systems, since there is little drag in space you could shut it off to and coast as you reached speed, but when you approach another star and need to slow you could turn it back on to be slowed by that stars pressure. You could then use that stars pressure to push you back home.
