Theatre in Amsterdam south-east. Some rom-com with Colin Firth. 25 teens constantly texting, chatting and to top it off a fist fight. Add a barely cleaned house and a sound system that's set to booming only (which doesn't work well with dialogue). Speak to the theatre and some minimum wage kid is perfectly happy to issue a refund but that's it. Nothing much ever changes.
Nowadays I sometimes accompany my 8 year old but that's it. Besides, film has lost it's charm to me. They all seem to lean on a hefty effects budget, a hideously overworked sound track and some big name actors. Scripts and acting seems an afterthought.
"EZ Stepper Stilts"
That's a plastic variant of a toy that's been know to exist for 800 years already. Suddenly it's on a list of things that "maim" children? Because you can fall of?!
"Anything by playmobil" funny. We in Europe have stricter laws because we have less lobbyists and yet playmobil is a safe toy here.
For the nanny state parents, be sure to wrap your kids in bisphenol free bubble wrap and make sure they learn nothing and have no fun!
Is still that offshore resources are as good as we are and cheaper. Doesn't matter if it's programming or infrastructure management.
Unofficially they are sometimes good at following procedures to the letter but that's it.
At least for customer facing jobs. Their English tends to be way, way more understandable. They can do customer service without promising things they cannot deliver.
I'd be curious to see how they do in infrastructure management, something else which the Indians I've worked with have not made the best impression
I suppose. Although these days I see most serious customers by a few high end servers and use vmware. I've yet to see a single low end low power server in a datacentre in this country
So... somewhere it's written down that when you do this you don't go to trial but you spend more than a year in a very inhumane pre-trial lockup? Ah, ok, I see.
Ready to prove my prejudice that environmentally friendly seems to be forbidden in their constitution.
Sustainable energy hasn't made it across the ocean yet? Or is it just a few trailer parks in Alabama that have been bypassed by progress the last 30 years?
They can warn all they like but it's pointless
Emerging economies feel it's now their turn to have a go at a house, 3 kids and 2 cars.
The US of A doesn't recognize the concept of climate change and quite a few of their citizens cannot be pried from their gas guzzling SUV without a big crowbar and a tow truck.
Europe at least has some governments that recognize the concept and are willing to implement some half baked measures to try and slow this down but at the moment they've got their hands full with the economy.
Since the whole world economy still operates on a growth is essential model I don't see this changing at all
Makes me wonder if it's a regional difference. Apparently over there in the US of A Apple's marketing for brain dead appeals to a lot of people. Over here in north-west Europe Apple doesn't do much marketing instead it relies mainly on buzz, word of mouth and free publicity (a surprising number of 40 something journalists are die-hard apple fans).
HTC (which made the brilliant marketing move of sponsoring a team in the tour de France) and Samsung are good at showing that their products fit a rather hip and very mobile 20-something lifestyle. Result: you've got blackberry on the corporate market and with the teen girls. You've got apple slowly losing market gear in the rest of the market (fragility and the piss poor hardware support do NOT go down well in this market) to Android. In the Netherlands Android is already outselling IOS. I think in Germany it's pretty close as well.
And you complain...? Weird. It's, after all a democratic country and there's so many countries being mean and nasty to poor old America that this is all a necessity.
Or, that's the official line at least.
What always amazes me is that a large part of you Americans is willing to put up with all sorts of abuse. I see it a lot on dpreview.com. Every case of police being, nasty, mean or committing police brutality there's always quite a few people willing to defend any heave handed and irrational action.
So... unless you guys put a lot of pressure on your politicians your TSA will get a bigger budget and pretty soon you'll have checkpoints and pat downs all over the country.
Personally, I'd go to the states if my job required it, not for a tourist trip, not until sanity returns
Well, it's certainly provided an interesting look into NYPD's way of 21th century policing.
Apart from that, yeah, good to hear some voices agains tthe unsustainable "more, more MORE!" movement.
Prices don't translate that easily. A price in American dollars often means the same in euros and only slightly less in pounds. Something our North American/, crowd seems to forget.
It may mean that the next issue of bonds will be against a slightly higher interest. And with your economy in the state it is that's going to hurt sometime in the not too distant future.
Ah, could be worse. Like when the Chinese stop buying your bonds

Isn't it? You voted for this. I mean it's not likely anyone would buy politician's favours or anything isn't it?

Not really credible any more for use in fiction, a weaponized version of ebola. Tom Clancy will just have to thing of something else.

Over in Europe it's also common practice to blacklist imei numbers.
City wide composting is a novelty? You guys still use landfills? That's like the 1970s.

About the US of A. Doesn't matter how heavy handed the government acts, there's always a queue forming to defend the actions.
You'd have expected the government to get the fix in quicker than 18 months. Wonder why it took so long.
Why didn't they buy enough politicians? The entertainment industry never has had any problems with that.
Not only did noone get killed but someone got convicted and that's pretty impressive especially if you consider how close EDF is to the government.

Oh come on. This has been going on for ages here in Europe.

If that's the way they advertise android I can see why Iphone is still going strong.

Just did a quick check, a top of the range hearing aid will set you back about 2500 euros.

No. Even the recession of a few years ago only put a dent in that.
