Most developers agree that older workers are discriminated against, so why is it so hard to believe that females are discriminated against.
On the other hand, if women choose jobs that are less demanding to have a better work/life balance, is there anything wrong with them getting paid less? If I was told I could make 20% more by working at a job that made me work 30% longer hours or with an increased commute (my current commute is from my bed to my home office). I would turn it down.
Why should it be illegal? I would have no trouble training my replacement as long as I'm getting a paycheck. I would be looking for another job the whole time unless they promised me a severance package that made it worth staying around and having an employment gap.
If these "IT Workers" are software developers, dev ops, or network admins with marketable skills, and are either in a decent metro area or are willing to move, is a layoff any more than a slight inconvenience?
In 2011, I worked for a small software company (around 30 people) and we all knew that the end was coming and that we would all lose our jobs. Management was very open about our condition. Most of the survivors stuck around in hopes that our options would be worth something (they weren't) or that we would at least get severance package (we all got a month).
Within one month, every developer had another job, all more than likely paying more than we were making.
In 2014, I was in a department with 14 developers and we all saw the way the department was heading. All of the developers found another job within six months. The only reason some stuck around was because they were close to the 3 year vesting period. But all could have found something sooner.
The RIAA never tried to ban subscription music. They preferred subscription music over download and pay once that iTunes ushered in. Before iTunes, the industry was in favor of efforts like MusicNet and PressPlay. They all failed at the time. This was before smart phones though - music players with a continuous Internet connection.
No what makes him a racist. Is that he was a racist.

Steve Wozniack left Apple in 1983-84. The last product that Wozniack was involved with was the Apple//GS. What did Wozniack ever succeed in without Jobs? What did Jobs succeed at without Wozniack?
Talk to the carriers about that. This is not something you can pin on Google, it is carrier greed and need for control that you are seeing.
Apple forbids any carrier from adding anything to their phones. Why couldn't other manufacturers?
Many of them can be updated to whatever you like, it just might not work properly because of Qualcomm's control issues.
Why not all of them? I was able to install Windows 7 on an old 2006 Core Duo Mac Mini. This was out any support from Apple (no I didn't have to use BootCamp).
I am sure Google would love to control updates on their phones, but the Carriers and Manufacturers, and Qualcomm won't let them.
But the carriers "let" Apple control their own updates. Apple also uses Qualcomm chipsets. Why is Google so much less powerful than Apple when Android runs on about 5x as many phones as iOS?
Apple is guilty of the same thing. In this case, it isn't Google doing anything of the kind, it is usually the carrier as they feel they HAVE to load their crapware on every phone.
Apple doesn't allow the carrier to load crapware.
Apple and Google have pretty much the same support time frame.
I can buy a PC from any manufacturer running Windows and get security updates from Microsoft. Why can't I do the same with third party Android phones?
Google supports their Nexus line for 3 years.
And what about third party phones running Google licensed versions of Android? Microsoft doesn't just provide updates for Surface computers.
Here is a cute little comparison chart of Apple vs Google in support timeframes.
It's "cute" and all but why if MS makes it their responsibility to support their licensed OS on third party hardware then why doesn't Google do the same?
How is Apple "falling behind" when it is the most profitable of the bunch and whose revenue and profit is still growing? Microsoft is adapting because they have to. Google on the other hand has been the least successful at adapting and moving into new markets successfully.
Android doesn't count as a success. It barely makes any money for Google and most Android phones being sold worldwide are not using Google services.
Apple -- the only computer maker that survived making computers that were not running MS operating systems -- been making non compatible computers for 30 years. Now could any one company duplicate Apple's combination of hardware, logistics, supply chain, retail stores, etc.?
Microsoft - has been the number one operating system vendor for at least 20 years. MS has survived many would be long dead competitors.
Amazon - has such a massive infrastructure that it would be hard to topple, They've been around basically since the dawn of the commercial Internet.
Google - Nothing they have done outside of advertising has been a real revenue generator. The price per click is already going down and moving toward mobile. Most Android phones that are sold worldwide are not using Google services or advertising.
Facebook is in the most danger. Once old people started using it, It lost the cool factor. But as long as Facebook the company keeps buying potential competitors, it should be around for awhile.
When I graduated in 92, we had an optional computer programming course in AppleSoft Basic. I even took a course in 1988 in 8th grade. This was at a regular public school in a small middle class town in the south.
They refuse to hold hearings. Isn't that the minimum due diligence?

How little do you make as a software developer that it isn't worth buying the tools that you need?
If you work for any decent size company you probably have an MSDN license and all of the development tools come with it.
For that matter if I were an independent consultant, I would buy my own MSDN license.
Apple does that now with programs that use the Mac App Store. It would be nice if it worked with apps outside of the store.

If judges had to appeal to the public we would still have Jim Crow laws and laws against miscegenation.

He's finally on the right side of the grass.

Andy Rubin......
It was also $5 for a micro-USB cord.

If only there were a way to buy a lightning cable other than from Apple....
I just bought one for $5 from 5 Below.
Your anecdote of "everyone you know", has exactly what statistically relevance?
Good thing we have data....

Or just maybe since they killed their ad platform, they just decided to get out of the ad supported music platform entirely.
Google charges license fees for Google Play Services like Maps, the Play Store, etc.

iPhone 4s - introduced 9/2011 -- still running the latest OS probably until 9/2016.
I'm just saying.....
Apple makes enough just on Macs to rank at least 200 in the Fortune 500. It's Mac division is more profitable than any other PC manufacturer.
In the U.S., Apple has a 12% market share. That many people are not developing for iOS.
TSMC is also making Apple processors. Apple has been dual sourcing them for at least two years.
By 1995. IBM was already smelling funny. The writing was already on the wall for OS/2 and most people weren't buying IBM.
Twitter is struggling and has nowhere near the dominance in it's field that MS still has.
