"What the fuck with all this fairness shit? Live ain't fair, neither are greenhouse gases. Let's get on the stick about it and work out differences *later*!"
So WTF are you complaining about. You're right, life isn't fair. So the president has taken your attitude and acted in what he sees as the best interest of his country, the economy and the environment of that country.
So what if you don't see it as fair. He's doing his job and will work out the differences *later*!
Your average/. reader, like the average environmental activist, gives a wet slap about what is good for America. They find it offensive when the chief executive of the country acts in a manner he believes is in the best interest of the country.
Instead these people believe that the president should act in an manner that would harm the country and promote the interests of other countries. If they think there's a shred of anything positive for the environment then it's worth the cost to them.
They could care less that the negative impact such a treaty would have on America could possibly have an even more negative environmental impact in time.
"How can one job be more important than the environment?"
Who said anything about the environment? The topic was about a treaty.
Let me see if I can explain this to all you greenie weenies who make all your statements based on emotion with no regard to logic. The president refused to sign a treaty. He believes that if he signed a treaty and it were to be ratified, it might hurt the citizens of the country he is the chief executive for. The president knows that the treaty is unfairly biased in favor of other countries allowing those countries to do more environmental damage in order for them to attract jobs.
The president also knows that his signature on the treaty is worthless as the lawmakers will not ratify it.
So, you can blame the president for not signing a piece of paper. He has done nothing to harm the environment and is doing what he believes is in the best interest of the public he serves.
Now, before you get your panties in an uproar, if you really want to do something to improve the situation why don't you write another treaty that will address the problem and contains enough compromise that it is likely to be implimented.
I suppose this could become big news on a Tuesday in November. But if they're voting right now in Florida then it's just for practice.
Things like this electronic voting, early voting, dead people voting and having the UN, of all organizations, do election inspections has really made a big joke of our democracy. The only ones who take it serious anymore are people like Bush and Kerry.
Taste isn't a concern. After the product has set you simply vibrate the corn starch away and recycle it for the next product. This is how most commercial food molds are made
Wow, you used moron three times. I'm betting you did that all by yourself without the aid of a thesaurus. Very impressive. You've shown enough talent to be a Slashdot regular.
Just because he did it on public property doesn't make it right. Because it was not pr0n doesn't make it right.
"I've noticed that dissent is becoming less and less tolerated."
I didn't notice that, but I did notice that tolerance for people putting their messages and advertisment everywhere is getting thin. Around here it's not illegal to post yard sale signs on lamp posts or do them in chalk on the road. Our planning and zoning boards are not at all friendly about requests for billboards or other advertising fixtures.
I think people have had just about enough of other people flashing messages in front of them all the time. You can't even take a drive in the woods these days without seeing "no tresspassing" and "no hunting" signs on the side of the road every couple of hundred yards.
So I can come over to your house and chalk up your driveway with pro war and pro child pr0n messages that will wash off in a few weeks. That's ok with you.
Go first amendment! Yea for the right to deface property!
So the consumer would have to pay. Big deal. The alternative, because you KNOW that the feds are gonna snoop, is for everyone to pay in the form of taxes. Having the consumers pay seems only fair, someone who isn't a consumer shouldn't be forced to pay.
So rather than fight the payment plan, fight the fact that their going to do it in the first place.
Imagine if Microsoft actually innovated. You know, came up with an idea of their own, something new.
Or imagine if they took an old product, something that had been around for a long time, and made it work great. You know, put time and money into making something near bulletproof, a quality product.
Could it be that showing ID is a nice way to prove that it really was you who purchased the ticket?
I actually know someone who had their flights stolen....twice. All the person did was show up with the ticket and got themselves a nice little trip.
By showing ID, the ticket is....well, it's just something to write your gate assignment on so you don't forget it. But to actually fly you have to show the ID, the picture has to match, all that.
Could this be part of some vast left wing conspiracy to protect consumer rights?
Farenheit 911 and Starship Troopers2 are tied for me as the worst ever. Beyond boring, to the point I was ready to do almost anything to distract myself from the stupidity of the movies. Pr0n has better plot, better script and sent a more clear and powerful political statement.
Never again will I promise someone that I will see a movie with here and see it all the way through.
Maybe. I suppose it's a good idea. But there's another thing to put hours into getting it to work and then to work right. And it requires time for the people who are trying to send me what I need to fill out yet another form.
Yeah, our IT guys suggested that. But then if I'm going to be working with someone, say another comm tech from a company in Seattle, I have to ask him for the IP information of his system. He wouldn't know so he's got to go to his IT guy, get the information, send it to me, I give it to my IT guy who sets it up. Two months later, when that project is over we would then remove his IP address.
Then there is the issue of the contract guys. They work from home usually and are on a variety of ISP's. You never know what IP address their email would come from.
All that just so we don't have to sort through 20 to 100 spams a day? It's more trouble than it's worth!
Your right, it is trivial as long as our group only had to deal with our group. It's the interface to the outside world that gets flooded. We've found that it is quicker and more reliable to have a document printed and faxed to us than to have it emailed because of all the spam.
Spam isn't a problem that is caused by or limited to Microsoft. Our county, as a whole, has had Novell, Microsoft, Linux and BSD based email systems. All are/were impacted. Other departments that continue to use email are highly frustrated.

Oh dude, you are so gonna get modded down as flamebait for posting that.
/. and post something that makes sense?
WTF, you think you can come here to
Hahahaha....address the actual problem. You're a funny guy. Like that would ever happen.
Ok, yeah, I'm a smartass.
How dare you propose a solution. That goes against everything that environmental activism stands for.
Now get back out there and spread unfounded emotional FUD like the rest of them.

Thank the gods that the Chinese are keeping theirs within their own country. Right?

Of course we all know just how much more safe oil is.
So how is the power supply being cooled? That fan is the biggest noise source in all of my gear.
Yes.
and
No.
That's John Kerry America.
You and your team have just five days to complete the build.
But....it's gotta be tested by Jessie James.
"No, votes yesterday (through Novemeber 1) are just as likely to be counted as votes on November 2."
Sure. Count for what? The actual election isn't held until that Tuesday in November.
It must be for practice. I understand the folks in Florida need lots of practice with that.

Corn starch is what you want.

Either case would be something newsworthy.

At what point do you say enough is enough?
For us, we hit that point.
Yeah, our IT guys suggested that. But then if I'm going to be working with someone, say another comm tech from a company in Seattle, I have to ask him for the IP information of his system. That would be wonderful but we already have something like that. What we lack is a way to interact in the same way with someone outside the group.
Your right, it is trivial as long as our group only had to deal with our group. It's the interface to the outside world that gets flooded. We've found that it is quicker and more reliable to have a document printed and faxed to us than to have it emailed because of all the spam.
