    Ah, I see now. I suggest that "the wrong crowd" learns what happens to transsexuals (of either gender) when they start taking hormones. It's unbelievable the degree to which some of our basic tendencies can be attributed to simple body chemistry. Of course, transsexuality doesn't make any sense unless there are properties of gender that aren't based purely in chemistry... so, clearly, gender is complicated.

    Before attempting #2, it would be wise to learn the difference between sex and gender. Sex is determined on the basis of reproductive function, and is not always completely male or completely female. Gender is a social construction, and is rarely completely masculine or completely feminine.

    Symlinks and aliases are quite different. You can move and rename the target of an alias, and the alias will still work.

    you probably do not want to store your email on some unrelated big corporation's servers

    Many small companies outsource their email. It frees them from having to worry about another server, and they don't have to hire someone with email expertise. All they have to do is pay a monthly bill.

    This is retarded. Why not just increment the reference count, and then decrement it when you're done? That is, after all, what reference counting is for. And in case that's all this function does, why does it have such a bizarre name?

    ...which is fine in the case of radio and TV masts, but cell phone towers? If you're flying that low, you're already dead.

    My mother used to be Director of Advising at IU's School of Journalism, and I remember her talking about PeopleSoft five years ago. Seriously, what is wrong with this software? How did they manage to make it so bloody awful? We use Oracle Financials where I work and it is similarly steaming and craptastic.

    Oracle and PeopleSoft: Their powers combined, they will produce some of the worst software on Earth.

    There are no statutory minimum hours for solo privileges (I soloed after eleven hours, some do it in as little as five), but the rest of your info is correct. You can solo as soon as you receive training in all of the required knowledge areas, pass an informal written exam, and get an endorsement from your instructor. The relevant regulation is 14 CFR 61.87.

    WAAS differential signals are transmitted via satellite but those signals are generated by ground reference stations. So, while you are partially correct in saying that WAAS is a satellite system, it most certainly does have towers. The system is currently only available in the United States.

    Quick way to check your serial number:
    1. Apple menu -> About This Mac
    2. Hold down the option key and click on the OS version twice
    3. There is no step three

    I don't know when this was added to OS X, so if you're running an older version it might not work.

    No, there is nothing at work here. This article is about something that Microsoft could do, not something they're actually doing. It's beyond speculative, and it's hard to talk about without sounding like a raving loony.
