It's a bit more involved than that. The operating system needs to be able to read a certificate off of the card and verify it against an authority before allowing you access. Simply using the card reader as a replacement for typing passwords would just defeat the whole purpose.
...makes this unnecessary. When I can use RPM to verify the purpose and integrity of every binary in/usr/bin, I don't see a need for separating software into a meaningless directory structure.
DOS put programs in different folders because there was no other way to tell what package the software belonged to.
Fuel cells don't have moving parts. It's a chemical reaction. Why wouldn't you want your phone to last a month between chargings? Charging it every night seems more complicated to me then doing nothing.
I'm not certain what goes on in Bloomington (the main campus of Indiana University), but here on the Indianapolis campus our core servers are mostly UNIX (mostly HP-UX) and NetWare boxes. We do have a Microsoft Exchange server that gets rebooted once a week, but UNIX certainly isn't dead here.
I'm sure the fine folks who house slashdot's server know how to test and diagnose a broken power supply. If Rob says it's broke, I'd bet that it's broke.
If you already have a PC, $25 for bleem is alot cheaper than a $200 console... Looks much nicer on a voodoo card and SVGA monitor than on a nasty TV set.
Word on the IRC channels is that it still has some problems running on 3dfx cards. I recieved my CD Key in the mail two weeks ago, and can't wait to get home and try it. Has anyone else that already has it had problems getting it to run?
The Secure Satellite SHell. :)

My DSL link through Earthlink will not allow me to use anything but earthlink.com as a sending domain.
They also go as far as to block port 25 outbound to keep customers from using other mail relays.

What's a T-2?
A Schwartzeneger movie?
Disclaimer: I can't spell.
I don't think the image slashdot linked to of the ad was scanned in by the same folks whg produced it. It's on linux.com after all.
Maybe it runs the decryption algorithm in 12 microseconds, but I don't see how it would crack a 512 bit key in that amount of time.
This looks like a standard beta form that Corel probably uses to test all of their products...
My guess is they'll want to modify this to adhear to the GPL if they hope to keep the support of the community.

If it's that hard for you to type, link it to something that isn't.
Lucas should have cast Mini-Me instead of Jar Jar... that would have been a riot.

Hmm... that doesn't work either.
Score!!
