From what a friend told me, he was asked to do a job that basically involved driving a truck around the city imaging all the buildings. I too wonder what this would look like.
Oh, it's not that I'm not worried about the other things you mentioned.. I grew up a few miles from a coal power plant.. I know that nuclear power is not something that I should be terribly concerned with. I've only lived near this plant (it's not the TMI plant, it's the plant in Limerick, PA) for about a year and a half now so it's kind of a new thing for me, because in Iowa I was never this close to a nuclear plant.
I think I remember this happening last spring/summer. But it was before I knew that it happened at 2pm on the first Monday of each month. I definitely freaked out a bit. I guess they post the alarm test times in some local paper? (I'm right next to Limerick) but I never bother to look.
Approx. four miles (line of sight) from the nuclear power plant in Limerick, PA and not a day goes by where I worry something is going to happen, and it's not a very serious worry.. more like "hm, what if something happened right now?".. then I ponder for 30 seconds and go about my business. On the first Monday of every month at 2pm they test the alarms and it's one of the most disturbing, interesting sounds I've heard. It's a normal siren, but since there are quite a few of them going off at once you can hear the phase differences and it's pretty eerie, especially when you forget that they do this test. Oh well, it's quite a beautiful sight to see a lot of the time and at least I have my potassium iodide tablet waiting on my desk if anything does happen.
To be honest I'm not completely sure. My need for The Gimp hasn't been that strong lately, so all I really noticed was the splash screen that said Gimp 2.0pre-release or whatever.
I think I remember seeing a gimp-1.3 binary laying around, so that leads me to believe that 2.0pre-release and 1.3 are not the same.
is the fact that the icons in the browser/mail client (the only things I really use) are ugly looking.. and while I know I can download themes.. they should take the icons from Firefox and Thunderbird and incorporate them.
Firefox on windows does have a couple issues with crashing on phpBB reply boxes.. which is why I use Mozilla when I'm not using linux.
I asked myself this question when buying Unreal Tournament 2004 the other day and when the employee of the store told me they didn't receive any of the Special Edition DVD version. I was kind of baffled as to why they didn't make it a DVD only release, but it kind of makes sense to me.. It's not entirely safe to assume that that many people have DVD-ROMs, at least from a manufacturing perspective. I think that when you register the game you can send your system specs in thus allowing th company to know... Sorry for getting kind of off-topic but the same concept stands true in this case I think. Think of how many people have cd-burners compared to dvd-burners? Probably a big ratio.. so it makes more sense to put everything on a format that almost everyone has access to. (Note: ALMOST)
I swear that I just downloaded KDE 3.2.1 packages into Debian Unstable on Sunday. Maybe they were just beta? Either way, KDE 3.2 is pretty awesome. I am growing anxious for Gnome 2.6 as well. The 2.5.5 release wasn't half bad.

There was nothing wrong with the syntax in the code so I did some digging around and found out that this line from Y/util/log.h is incorrect:
#define Y_TRACE(str,...) do { syslog (LOG_INFO, "%s:%d: " str "\n", __FUNCTION__, __LINE__, ##__VA_ARGS__ ); } while (0)
Well, okay.. what's wrong with it?
It should be this:
#define Y_TRACE(str,...) do { syslog (LOG_INFO, "%s:%d: " str "\n", __FUNCTION__, __LINE__ , ##__VA_ARGS__ ); } while (0)
A page on developers.apple.com about Variadic Macros helped me find the solution.
Previous versions of CPP implemented the comma-deletion extension much more generally. We have restricted it in this release to minimize the differences from C99. To get the same effect with both this and previous versions of GCC, the token preceding the special ## must be a comma, and there must be white space between that comma and whatever comes immediately before it:
So if you change all those lines in Y/util/log.h to the correct format, you should be able to compile it. (Some things are still broken for me though and I'm looking into it.)
There needs to be a place to discuss this project I think.
The Sheraton on Burlington St. still has WiFi access.. it sits on a "ped mall" and you should be able to get access from around that area. I lived there for a couple years (grew up in SE Iowa but lived in I.C. before I moved to Philadelphia). I would recommend staying in Iowa City instead of Des Moines. Better people, more things to do.. etc etc.
Well because of nvidia's unified driver, any nvidia card(even riva128?) will work with their drivers, so from the original TNT to the GF2 GTS will work with the one driver. I use debian(woody) with kernel 2.4.0test12 and it worked right off the bat(there was a patch i had to get, which can be found at #nvidia on irc.openprojects.net) its a piece of cake.
My boss showed me this article a few weeks ago, and
he scored pretty high amongst our team. Needless to
say he isn't our boss anymore.

That's odd.. because I saw the news on the debian.org site almost 3 hours ago!

I don't think Jersey people travel that far.

The 2.0 pre-release has been in Debian unstable for awhile now and then it broke so I'm stoked that this should be fixed up soon.
I found it to be much easier to use in comparison with any of the old versions.

All in all, go Mozilla!
Two years in a row I have missed this and I live only 10 minutes from where it was held. There is always next year!
Maybe this explains why traffic was so bad, but then again, it's always terrible.

I knew as soon as I posted this that I would read the comment where my previous post was mentioned. Oops!

Yes, it works just fine:) i compiled a couple hours ago. As long as they are the 0.9-6 drivers.
