Most people CAN NOT tell the difference. It's only those that have spent a lot of money or those that depend on people buying expensive tube amps that think of them as a religion.

Dead Kennedys were underpaid royalties by Alternative Tentacles Records. Though some find it hard to believe, when Jello Biafra was told of this underpayment, he said, "do not tell the band," the start of the fraud. Later, after a whistle-blower at the label informed the band that royalties were owed them, Biafra refused to compensate the band without a court order, thus causing the lawsuit.
Biafra made a mistake and did something wrong and was caught. He intentionally covered up royalties owed to Dead Kennedys and deliberately misled East Bay Ray, Klaus Flouride and D.H. Peligro. He unfortunately fell victim to a conflict of interest and used the income to promote his solo career and label.
It was proven to be true that "Alternative Tentacles Records engaged in fraudulent conduct" and that Jello Biafra "breached his contractual and fiduciary obligations to plaintiff [Dead Kennedys]." It was also shown "by clear and convincing evidence" that Biafra and Alternative Tentacles were "guilty of malice, oppression and fraud" in committing these acts. Malice was defined as "conduct which is intended to cause injury or despicable conduct which is carried with a willful and conscious disregard for the rights of others."
Just because you spend 10,000.00 on a tube amp doesn't mean it sounds better. You just want it to sound better because you spent so much money on it. Please, please look over the current DSP tech, it is very good. IOW, these aren't the same stupid slow chips we used in 1984.
Of course they have interest. They get top of the line R&D for next to no risk and next to no cost. These labs cost a lot of money to run and they amount they get from private business doesn't come near the amount required to keep them open.
It's the same thing in regards to medical research, FEDGOV spends a lot on research and then licenses the results for cents on the dollar to a private company who then profits at the expense of the tax payer.
If these companies want to do R&D and have full rights to it, they are free to do it themselves. However if they wish to use FEDGOV labs to do it, then perhaps they should not have exclusive rights to the tech.
How much will the license this for? I know the taxpayers paid for it, but it always seams like it gets exclusivly licensed to some company for next to nothing then that company charges the people that paid for it in the first place a lot of money to use it.
People bitch about the FCC's "indecency" rulings because they are CRAP.
It's ok to have a human ripped to pieces under a bus and have her arm come off and shatter the windshield of a passing car (CSI this week) but a breast will get you fined.
How is that different than CSPAN where what the reps say isn't what goes in the congressional record? When they say "reserve the right to revise and extend" that means that they can, at some point in the future, change totally what they said on the floor. IOW, what they say for the cameras isn't what is recorded in the official record.
It ain't FUD if its true.
Perhaps you are different, but read some of the /. gentoo posts! They don't know what the flags do, but if it runs faster IT MUST BE GOOD!
If I buy/build a linux box it would not be included in your stats.
You must understand that the Gentoo people, at least on /., do not care if the app runs correctly, they just want it to run fast.
That's why they use every gcc flag they can.
Damn.

Me Stupid.
I should have know that.
Buries head in shame
Then perhaps in the future you should say so. You simply said amp and when presented with evidence that you might be wrong changes what you 'meant'
Easy, but cheap, way of ending an argument.

It's not the only way. Current TV/Radio/MILSPEC transmiters do not use tubes and they can pump out 100,000 - 6,000,000 Watts.
SACDs only output in analog because the labels HATE digital output. They think it makes it easer to copy their music.

He is still working on his speech. He hasn't yet decided on what he need to tell everyone else to think yet.
For someone who 'loves' free speach, he sure doesn't like people who think differently than he does.
Then tell us, what DID HE DO?
Microsoft, regardless of what some /.ers think, doesn't throw me in jail if I don't invest with them.

And how do you trust the people that develop such systems? That is what the OP was talking about.
