Well my n800 and gp2x had screens full of icons before the iphone was released, hell palms did way back in the day. If they're not talking about the icons, well, it just looks like every single phone out there without a dialing pad.
Does anybody have any links to what Apple is really claiming because these articles are totally vague as to what exactly apple is claiming.
Perhaps i should have used a sarcasm tag. Really is there anybody left in the world naive enough to believe in the US having an intelligent patent system?
If you think that's bad. Locally produced food and produce in Mexico is more expensive than the exact same product imported into the states or canada! Not to mention there's ridiculous markups on all tech, ecen the tech made/assembled in mexico.
Probably taxes. A 12 pack of Kokanee is 1/2 the price in Quebec than BC, even though it's produced in BC and Quebec is on the other side of the continent (~5000km).
Don't feel bad, they've fucked over everybody they have a free trade agreement with. Not sure why anybody would agree to them considering the history of how they've treated us(i'm both a canadian and a mexican citizen).
More like WTF he patented an oak tree? If he used standard pvc couplings i don't see how any of this is novel. Then again i always have faith that the US patent office will patent the stupidest things.... and pretty much every country will just ignore them.
Just to hammer home the point more, see the next slashdot story on apple and the australian government. As well, pc development has always been free with your choice of any language you choose. You can also develop for xbox360 for free, $99/annum if you actually want to distribute it. PS3 and nintendo homebrew is just a hack away but granted less than legal. Apple just sells you a very expensive cage, granted a very shiny and pretty cage, and they're hell bent on taking out their competition through legal stupidities, and outright fraud, than actual technological merit.
Have you seen the price of apple hardware? The microsoft tax is insignificant in comparison to the price disparity of apple hardware to comparable pc's and laptops.
Thing is, all the other companies out there are just as evil or worse (apple)...unless you go with nintendo which really isn't good for anything but games.
Or you can just just use the samsung remote from your tv to control it:) Then again if i do want to play media files i just stick a usb stick or harddrive into my samsung tv, it even plays mkv. Cant stick a 3d bluray into it though, and i'm guessing you can't do that with a htpc either.
I think it's a pretty hard sell to list Apple as an alternative to sony for ethical/moral reasons. What sony has done pales in comparison to what Apple has been doing recently.
Except i actually like bluray, and i don't really play games and can any pc bluray drive do 3d? Either way a barebones with a bluray drive and a sixaxis still isn't going to get close to that price. Also, what's the point of buying bluray/if you're just going to compress it?
My n800 can hardly decode ntsc resoltion, the n900 can't do 720p and neithe can even come close to doing 1080p 3d, and even if they could whats the point of bluray on a tiny 800x600 screen? The tv output of the n900 is just ntsc, so no go there either, only fit for emulators and mame hence the sixaxis.
I don't have a pc. Just a phone and a tablet. While i may be able to hook up an extrnal to my n900 there's no way it oculd decode blu-ray let alone 3d.
If you need easy access to your pdf's the full size usb port is excellent for hooking up usb hd's or sdhc reader. The built in lumireader works well for pdfs, bookmarking ability but no note taking, but faster than adobe. Adobes reflow viewing works good if formating isn't an issue, i.e., not good for reading formatted code.
Not bad for reading comics either.
NB, a 4x3 aspect ratio like ipad or hp touchpad might work better for some books, all depends on the aspect ratio of the source material you'll mostly be reading.
Aren't smartphone games more for the adult casual gamer with some free time between the events that constitute their life and the nintendo handhelds more for young children with more free time than a life?
I'm guessing nintendo can depend on the childrens whining to maintain sales though i'm totally unfamiliar with the current state of children with cellphones. Personally i wouldn't pay fora child's cellphone but i guess nintendo could be in trouble seeing as how many parents have no problem buying cars for their children... i was lucky if they bought me food and clothing!
Really, why would i bother? I'm not crazy and you are set in your beliefs and nothing will change that. You're just another person who disavows responsability and refuses to see reality as it is in the present. I'm trying not to be mean or anything, but i'm here for argument in the literal sense and not in the colloquial sense.
Florian says the picture probably wasn't intentional and was likely from a pre-release photo. Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't that the new interface that was only available after the pre-release photos? Wasn't the screen already sourced and aspect ratio known?
If this was really about copying the look why didn't they go after HP's Touchpad which practically has the same dimensions and design, as well as having EXACTLY the same screen specs 9.7" 1024x768 IPS panel. Who knows it might actually be the exact same panel.
Thank you. Unfortunately i still have a hard time expressing my thoughts in a linear fashion that is intelligible to most people instead of being seen as random clumps of detail which are seemingly disrelated. Don't get me started on syntax and grammar! That's why i love lisp so much:)
I didn't miss the point, i made it. I said energy needs AND lifestyle. Resources are needed to produce the energy consuming technology which are currently produced in an unsustainable ecology damaging fashion. Unlimited energy does nothing to change that, nor are there currently sustainable methods for disposing of nuclear waste that don't amount to sweeping it under the rug and leaving it as somebody elses problem. We have to live in the present not some theoretical future, though those idealistic futures should be used to guide our present course, which unfortunately they aren't.
Honestly, how you managed to do that is beyond me.:)
I'm all with you on this. Unfortunately the large corporations and goverments arent. It's easy to design water and air filters that can be 'recharged/purified' at home, but which company is going to back a product you only sell once or that a normal person can construct with off the shelf parts?
I have great hope for the role the internet can play in this and amdesigning a system for the free exchange of sustainable design and ideas, now if i could just get a development system to start coding (i'm currently stuck on an island in the carribean that lacks a choice of inexpensive systems and nobody has yet ported any development systems to android). I'd kill for a common-lisp port to android with access to the android api's.

I just wonder how do so many US'ians get brainwashed like Khallow. It's like they live in a seperate reality.
Wow, you have problems.
If this was really about copying the look why didn't they go after HP's Touchpad which practically has the same dimensions and design, as well as having EXACTLY the same screen specs 9.7" 1024x768 IPS panel. Who knows it might actually be the exact same panel.

btw, i also didn't mention that nuclear power should not be pursued, that was your assumption.
Honestly, how you managed to do that is beyond me. :)
