You seem to forget that we construct a model of the outside world. This description varies between cultures. Top down processing ensures that you don't "see" what is out there in reality, you see a model your brain deems to be 'correct' given data quantity and processing constraints.
Another way to think about it is in terms of audio. An audio codec designed to encode only the necessary information for an english speaker to decode spoken english will not work equally across different languages. Language affects how we interpret the world which in turn affects how we reconstruct and give meaning to the world.
You probably have a lot less to worry about an artist staging these sorts of scenes than the people on the internet sharing real video of these types of events, you know, the type of people that he's commenting on.
It's not too clear in the paper, but it appears they built a larger reinforced hole and backfilled around the either circular or square well lining. It's not clear how big the space around the well lining is though with loose packed soil and going down 7m in some cases you're going to need a big enough hole not to inter yourself.
What's interesting is that this is modded so high up and yet it's clear you've never dug a hole nor done any carpentry. The most time consuming part would be felling the 1m diameter oak trees and notching them. Digging a hole, even upto 7m deep, isn't very time consuming given the loose type of soil they're digging in. Splitting is pretty rapid, though not sure how wooden wedges compare to metal, but given that the splitting depends more on how wood is designed and less about what is splitting it, shouldn't make too much of a difference.
It was probably done by several people but one person could still do it in a few weeks... as long as they don't work as slow as modern construction workers. Given the detail of the scans that they took of all the boards they should be able to examine the tool marks to determine whether this was one specialist shaping boards or just random people.
I didn't say anything about violent disagreements. Those happen everywhere. We're talking about the general tendency towards everything being split into an either or camp.
I love it when Bush said "you're either with us or you're against us" and Canada basically said, whatever.
Perhaps you're the ignorant one? Let's see, spend billions in research that will probably lead nowhere except patents and rampant capitilization, or let's use something that can be done immediately and save billions. Yup, given past stupidity, we can be sure which path the US will take.
BTW, hemp, i.e, cannabis for fiber, is NOT a heavy feeder, you don't even have to feed it! No food, no watering, no pesticides, no herbicides, dirt-poor soil, no chemicals to pollute the water supply to make paper, etc... If one was terribly worried about the nitrogen a simple permaculture setup with nitrogen rich fodder trees would take care of that. Now, cannabis for smoking and medicine, you have to feed and water that thing like there is no tomorrow. Don't let the propagandists confuse you by the differences, they have almost a century of practice.
Go read the header! Slashdot is no longer news for nerds or news that matters.
I wish slashdot had an api that I could access all postings. Slashdot is decomposing right now. I think you would be able to exactly pinpoint the death blow by analyzing posting histories and seeing where the crossover point from informative-individuals-posting-information to clueless-individuals-posting-nonsense happens. We're currently in the middle of a surge of the emergence of long-time clueless lurkers starting to post now that the intelligent people have left and the threat of mental shame has decreased. Not to mention that real science articles have fewer postings and the majority of postings are now in opinion pieces.
... I built them a 36" square recessed table for them - just for legos - so they can build things and not have to worry about cleaning up, or about the legos falling on the floor. I love coming home from work and seeing how their designs have evolved.
Nice. We need more good parents fostering creativity.

Has Lego Sold Out?

No, no it's not. Did you not read your own post? Nowhere does it state how many pieces lego started off with, nor when the great climb to 12,000 pieces happened, nor how long it stayed there, nor exactly how recent the switch to 6,800 pieces was, nor what percentage of those pieces are regular as opposed to special, nor any mention of change in percentages over time.
In fact your post could quite well support his point, and perhaps everybody bitching about it was the reason why lego went to fewer pieces. (realistically they're probably trying to save money).
More important than thermodynamics is what determines what type of energy form food is transformed into. Let's say a brain needs 5g of glucose for a given period of time, let's further make the simplified assumption that feeding the brain is the main determinant of food consumption. If one person's body stores 90% of sugars into fat and only provides 10% of intake for glucose what do you think their body type will be like compared to somebody whose body converts only 20% to fat? Are they likely to be bingers or grazers?
I know, westerners are going to want a pill or vaccine and billions will be spent in research and billions in consumption of pills but really you just need to change your diet.
Depends if you really lack motor coordination skills. What it sounds like is you either have your left and right confused or one side of your body is doing the work for both sides. The former more common in women, the latter in geeky guys. Basic unfamiliarity with a motor movement is never too time consuming when you have adequate feedback (working eyes and 3d vision help!).
Took me about 2 weeks before i stopped throwing the balls at the wall in front of me. 4 balls is simple when you're divided. 5 balls is my goto when it gets nippy in the winter, better than turning up the heat.
ah man, why'd you have to go and make your point so well when I could of done the same thing in the same crass tone he used? You take all the fun out of it.
Your suggestion to deal with rare cases for old displays would probably be better received if it was sent to the developers along with a donation.
Ah the days of calculating modelines by hand and messing with pixel clocks and freqs. Count yourself lucky you got the information so easily!
Not quite. There is no such thing as a single continuous image in reality. What floods our retinas is wave after wave of photon showers.

Try understanding what they're doing and you'll realize it doesn't back up your sentence at all.
Not everybody in the world is rich.
Nope, we should definitely be talking about the catholic clergy raping the pagans.
Your 'comment' is so badly constructed it only makes you look like an idiot.

I think Dora is the least of your worries in all that, at least she's educational and non-sexist. Actually a pretty good role model.

Trap all that carbon in clothing, acid free art paper, hempcrete, hemp fiber composites, etc... :)

Let's not let PC stupidity get in the way of truth,
Change your posture.
