Seriously though, pushing a button when your car is parked, or having a pressure switches underneath the tires that activate current in the plug, creating a carefully designed magnetic field that attracts the plug into the receptacle on the bottom of the car would be so much cooler(literally). Then when fully charged, the field breaks, and the plug disengages recoils automatically and mechanically so no electricity needed.
A canadian loon would be smarter than you. We're talking about Canada here. Not everything is US and THEM. We're actually tolerant of other people's beliefs. It's also not far-fetched to believe that unnaturual emf might have an impact on something that evolved in natural emfs. You apparently know too little about science to make a proper judgement.
p.s. We also REALLY understand the metric system up here.
What would be the point? If you're going to go as far to imbed tech into the road, then just line the highways with superconductors, and have light weight floating cars. hi tech bumper cars, crashing would be fun:)
You see this everywhere. Culture evolves and develops, how is this suprising....unfortunately there's always some people that can't understand past history. Even just being exposed to the products of high intelligence, novel applications and combinations helps to restructure thought processes as one is exposed to things that are possible that they could not conceive of on their own. The more available stimuli, the faster the acceleration. One need only view the effects of video cameras and massive amounts of data on sports, whether it be football or MMA.
Yes, let's all wonder why Google hasn't officially offered to run another operating system on a machine made specifically for Google to run their OS on.
It's not even news that US elections are a joke, anybody with half a brain and a tv can see that.
I often wonder if the amount of lies told during an election year can obtain a critical mass that would bend the laws of reality causing lies to become truth and vice-versa.
is ignorance of the equality of human skills, the compromises necessary to significantly advance a skill, and the reasons we start at different skill levels (insert scientific[genetics?] or spiritual reason[reincarnation] here.)
Actually, I am. Haven't had any income in the past 4 years, trying to physically recover. Unfortunately, not poor enough for the Canadian gov't to help me out so every single penny comes out of my dwindling savings. haha, just a little bitter about that part. It's very common for criminals/drug dealers to collect welfare because they have no income/jobs/savings that the gov't can see.
No, I wasn't stating my opinion. I was merely stating the lowest agreed upon cutoff by the experts in the area. Which is exactly what I said.
I actually think the bar should be set at 4 sd's from the mean for IQ. 130-140 just seems to be the point where you can start to have an interesting conversation with someone with their own thoughts(some) and not parroted societal/cultural beliefs. Besides, seeing all the stupid things my siblings have done it's just so hard to consider them geniuses:)
N.B. you can score 130-140 just by repeating facts, I believe real genius is in novel combinations of previous knowns. It's about seeing new patterns not rote memorization.
To be fair, the article isn't deceptive. The headline is inaccurate and sensationalist, but have you ever met a headline that wasn't? The only thing that's ambiguous is To make a plastic turbofan engine for those who aren't in the airplane business, engine here not referring to the 'motor' but to the type of plane.
Actually, I think you're allowed to sue and win for all those situations in the US. Not saying I agree with that. However, you do realize that companies put that stuff in their manuals etc... simply to protect themselves right? It's a phone, it's meant to be used. It's like what every single keyboard manufacturer writes in their manuals and puts stickers on their keyboards for. They KNOW people aren't going to stop using their keyboards, they won't change their designs (because it sells), and that simple proviso covers their ass. In my mind, these companies should be held liable. Why, because they hold a large influence over the general population, and let's face reality, the majority of humanity cannot even comprehend these risks or know how to assess them. With great power comes great responsability... unfortunately, in the world we live in, laws actually protect companies from being responsable.
Except that Netflix isn't saying anything about "intellectual property", they are not a content generator.
You're right about the last part, not everything given away freely is given unconditionally. If you actually read the website, the only thing they had to do to comply with their conditions was to NOT remove the website name, which is exactly what they did.
I do take my own advice, now you should try it. I know it's anathema to/. culture to actually read what you're talking about, but maybe you should try it some time.
Never claimed they aren't profiting, it's a non-issue. You don't have to pay anything for something that people give away freely. Nor is there anything wrong with profiting off free things, e.g. linux.
It's just an inflammatory piece of crap story. Netflix isn't in the content generation business so it isn't ironic that they're using 'pirated' (in reality non-pirated) stuff. Nothing was stolen. Then they say it's amazing they're too stupid to remove references to the site.
So what we have is a company using something freely available, leaving reference to where it comes from, not charging extra for it, and enhancing service to their end users (if you've never been to another country, subtitles aren't a big reason to not watch an english blockbuster). So, why are they scum?
Apparently these aren't well known facts or you wouldn't hear all the science fan boi parrots squawking all over this thread.
Second, who really reads manuals? Executives??? You're assuming that he had a manual, what if it was a company phone given with no manual? You know what happens when you ass-u-me things right?
BTW, what you're saying is basically equivalent to: That slut got what she deserved, did you see all the slutty clothes she was wearing. You dress like that and you're just asking to be raped.
Right. Let's get started on that by having farmers conduct all the scientific studies, because you know, they won't have a bias then we can trust all our science.
My, my, you seem to have no idea how science works.

Most people in Canada can only build quincee's. Not cold enough for igloos.
What would be the point? If you're going to go as far to imbed tech into the road, then just line the highways with superconductors, and have light weight floating cars. hi tech bumper cars, crashing would be fun :)
Except this has nothing to do with trust and security and everything to do with money.

Not necessary for Emacs. I'd be tempted if SBCL ran well on arm (i have no idea), might make a nice portable dev machine.
Keep those quality stories coming Timothy.

Never met an apple fan?

That's like saying companies are scum for making money off of linux.
Next time, read less comments and put more energy into comprehending those comments.
You're saying that netflix charges extra for the use of these subtitles? Or are you saying you're an idiot?
By your post, you're obviously not one of us.

Why can't people understand that the world they live in is not the same as the world everybody else lives in.
??? This isn't a $2 item we're talking about. Some phones almost qualify for grand theft.
