(the equilevent of A = 1, the equilevent of Z was 400)
a very weird system, nowadays Israelis use the normal numeric system.
And ofcourse, by releasing the source code, the community can patch out cheats themselves.

It's a very nice game, with sleek graphics though there is nothing more than a few pictures at best.
the game isn't realistic at all (not opengl style cracking like the movie 'hackers' , but not real either)
Though the game gets pretty repetitive, it does have an external plot, and is very nice.
For a nice review check out the home of the underdogs'review Another game that is being exclusivly published over the net is pontifex, better known as bridge builder 2, which is an awesome and very addictive game.
Or you can use an ABX program like this that will randomize the order of play for you and will display statistics of how successful you've been in identifying the encoded from the original.
The program above is only for windows though a quick search in freshmeat gave me LinABX which is an ABX program for linux, didn't have the time to check it out though.
For an online game like Tribes 2 it's very important there will be a company behind it.
Master servers, IRC server (irc.dynamix.com), patches that will eliminate bugs and cheats.
Hopefully sierra will take the place of dynamix on the above. but if it won't Tribes 2 will die
All you need is one widespread cheat and the community dissolves.
In my opinion, and others' Tribes 1 is a far better game than Tribes 2. Tribes 1 is a faster game that takes more personal skill aswell as team tactics.
There are still alot of people who are playing Tribes.
Thowards the release of Tribes 2 cheats started poping out for Tribes 1, which dynamix refused to patch, saying Tribes 2 comes first.
Like Quake 1 before they should open source the game and let the players themselves patch it.
Welp, You can
rundll32.exe shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx X where X stands for:
0 = logoff
1 = shutdown
2 = reboot
4 = force
and you can also combine
meaning a forced shutdown is 5 (4+1)
Forgot quality.
Most of those 'mp3 groups' rip with LAME or FHG which are of higher quality compared to the crappy XING 128kbit that's floating (floated?) all over napster.
Most people listen to mp3 on desktop speakers and without a amp, they don't notice the difference between a crappy encoded mp3 and a LAME mp3.
That's the only problem of audiogalaxy, it's really difficult to find the quality I want.
For all those who are whining that efnet should get a chanserv, and that'll solve it all:
Well, in my opinion the real beuty of efnet is the anarchy
But just think about implementing a nickserv/chanserv right now on efnet, think about the disputes..
Who really owns #shells and #warez or nicks like bill and joe?
That'll cause more DoS because of kiddies wanting their nick/chan back.
well, efnet opers has setup a voting service and have voted for the latest proposal about "op fix" which is mainly a system who will let the old ops regain op when the channel is opless, more here.
Which in my opinion is a great solution to the problem (or so it seems) yet efnet being the natural home for the script kiddies kind, I'm not sure that'll stop the DDoS attacks.
For all of those who spent so much time on civ.. And especially historical games freaks you might want to check Europa Universalis The time period of the game is 1492-1792 (The age of discovery until the period just before the Napoleonic wars)
The game involves the entire world with many countries, which are all playable through a simple editing of a text file) military, navy, exploration, colonization, diplomacy.
The most interesting feature is that it's real time.. I hate RTS games.. despise them. but this is different, besides having a pause to issue some orders if you are too overwelmed, you can change speed settings, Real time doesn't harm the game but just makes it much more fun for multiplayer games.
IMHO the true heir for civ/civ2/colonization.
One word: Portability
For example, If you want to take a huge project you've been working on to a friend. Should you unplug your computer, open it, up take out the hardisk and then reverse the process at your friends just because hardisks has more storage space, or just burn it on a DVD?
Hardisks are meant to stay (most of the time) in your computer, While DVD is supposed to be a mobile format.
is that game developers CAN'T fix this cheat...
if they'll add a code that doesn't let people play with the ASUS drivers Then what about those who downloaded it from ASUS' website with no intention to cheat?
How much time does it take you to re-configure your settings? 10 minutes?
If you are THAT time critical, bring a floppy from home with all your.cfg files
Heh, This awfuly reminds me of one exploit to IIS 5, Which allowed a user to read ANY file on the webserver no matter what premission he has, Just by adding +.htr to the end of the url.
In Here Microsoft says, quote:
Microsoft has released a patch that eliminates a security vulnerability in Microsoft® Internet Information Service. The vulnerability could allow enable an attacker, under very unusual conditions, to read fragments of files from a web server.
the translation can be found in the security bulletin Here this one could enable an attacker to request a file in a way that would cause it to be processed by the.HTR ISAPI extension. The result of doing this is that fragments of server-side files like.ASP files could potentially be sent to the attacker.
Or in other words, ANY USER, WHAT SO EVER can recieve any FILE on the webserver, so much for "under very unusual conditions"
Nice service...
But, could've been far more interesting if you could see graphs of OVERALL statistics, not only graphs and data of the logs you sent.
For example, I really wanted to know what are top 10 countries that most of the attacks origin from.
And I thought we got rid of bad sectors when the cdr came.
Guess not!
Floppys is the single storage media I hate the most.
I have about 50 floppys on my desk, each and every one of them has 90% of bad sectors.
You can still download the fonts here

Half-Life has a hardcoded fps cap at 100
that's why no one uses it for reviews

ah found it here try this instead rundll32.exe Shell32.dll,ExitWindowsEx,0x1
ummn, I think that in NT you have to change the number to hex meaning instead of 1 you'd use 0x1

Sure, tetris is a great game, But WHAT did it influence?
Mainly other varients of tetris games, which were mainly exact clones with small changes.
