For a long time, at least according to my local bookseller, the second book in the great "Gateway" series, "Beyond the Blue Event Horizon," was out-of-print.
It took me over a year to track down a copy (in the pre-Internet world I was living). I could never figure out why all the other ones were still be printed when the second one wasn't. Curiouser and curiouser.
It's the first Hawk game I played of the series, and I still fire it up from time-to-time.
It affected me to the point where, walking down the street, I'd notice a rail or a bench or what-have-you, and think "I could darkslide that, no problem!"
Even worse, I'd be watching one of those extreme sports shows, and anytime I'd see someone do some crazy trick in the halfpipe, I'd be, like, "Whatever! I can do that. That dude sucks."
Of course, after a minute, I'd remember: Oh yeah, that guy's doing it for real...
Hey... This is your younger self writing from another universe. I followed your advice and everything was going great. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a snag. Hmm... How can I put this? In your universe, is there a movie called "The Crying Game"?
Does anyone know what happened to Prey? I remember it was announced back when around the time Quake came out and KMFDM were supposed to provided the soundtrack.
The most I can find about it is this outdated FAQ.
You might want to check out Media Player Classic (click on the MPC link) -- it's ol' Media Player, but with a whole whack of features such as DVD playback and a bunch of new supported file formats, including Ogg (audio/video), RealMedia & QuickTime.
Highly recommended. And no, I don't work them. I'm just a satisifed user!;)

Like racing and Quake? This, my friend, is for you!

I'm guessing that on at least six sides are the words "Space-Time Continuum," right? ;)
3. Profit!
They were going to call it "G-Spot" but, alas, the URL was already taken. =) [Not safe for work!]
You obviously don't live in Toronto! ;)
No, you're thinking of this gnome. =)
Yeah! I've been playing with it for a couple of months now. Lots of fun, and there are lots of mods/add-ons for it, too: here and here!
Enjoy!
More info is here.
And while you're at it, you may want to check out Celestia, a 3D space simulator.
Now if only the same could happen to our dollar! =)

Here's the article -- no registration needed.
If you ever need to check a NYTimes article, replace "www.nytimes.com" with "archive.nytimes.com" in the URL.
That's assuming you don't ever want to get married. =p

Any info would be great!

Damn! I knew it should never have been repaired!
Don't worry -- you'll still be able to get your easy-listening fix right here! =P
I don't know about you, but I personally, I'm terrified as to how the porno industry will make use of this. =)
Slashdotted after 1 post? Oh, my! I guess they're serving the site off a toaster, too. ;)
Sorry if this is a silly question, but can ActiveX actually work on anything other than Win32 systems?
Also, there had better be a way to turn this "feature" off!
... OK, OK, I'll take the heat for this one.
Since two out of the top five are Russian...
In Soviet Russia, nine of ten problems SOLVE YOU!
I'm really, really sorry, but at least it's out of the way! =)
Seriously, though, congrats to all involved. I can barely decypher the damned PDF, let alone the problems within!
News? And here I thought I was watching the War Pre-Game Show. ;)
With all due respect, mhesseltine, an earlier mention of this was posted while I was writing mine.
But seriously, thanks for the defence. I was a little amazed myself, until I spotted the eralier post...
