How about rather than compulsory voting a tax cut for all who vote. Nothing big, but something like 0.2% general tax-cut to anyone who votes so that it'll seriously make people think it'd be a nice idea to go cast a vote. And those who really don't give a fuck will know they made a conscious choice in not voting for the common good of all and accept the normal tax. Perhaps increase tax for everyone by 0.2% and for those who vote give them 0.2% tax deduction. Those millions who don't vote will then handsomely help fund the increased activity at polling stations.

I also bought my aspire 3003NWLMi in 2005 and it is still my only computing device at home. It runs hot like an oven but hasn't burned itself yet with almost daily use since I bought it. And for gaming it's super, runs nethack vanilla super fast! I usually go to work while it compiles anything big, though..
Educate yourself into a position where you 1) enjoy your job (!!) and 2) can decide your hours.
Your life will certainly be a lot easier and more enjoyable. Just imagine the sunday mornings when:
RRRRING!!!
YOU: "nnnngh Hello?"
CLIENT: "Somebody hacked into our.."
YOU: "Yea, we'll take care of it" RRRRRRINGGG!!!
YOUR UNDERLING: "nnnngh yea?"
YOU: "Boss here. One of our clients believe their systems have been compromised. It's propably nothing but go check it out, will you."
UNDERLING (with resigned and carefully submissive tone): "Sure boss, whatever you say"
:) I've finally found the way to compare ms to alternatives:
The russians (even in soviet times) made 1 type of cars - Lada. They still are shitwagons. Meanwhile others used new cars and developed better engines
Now then: Many use 1 ms os...;)
