That's a cool graph and all. I see that longitude is the angular dimension, but can someone tell me what the radial dimension signifies?

First, which coordinate system would be use to claim parts of space-time itself? SR says there is no special system. Perhaps a system with the Cosmic Microwave Background dipole reduced to zero?

What do you think the going rate for cubic lightyears of space-time would be? And would the 1 H atom per cubic meter be included?

Do you think such charter modifications should incorporate the property value increase associated with the hubble expansion?

From the brick picture we can see that it's good under compressive stress. It might not be very good with tensile stress (much like concrete).

  8. Laser Networks? on Cable Without Cables · · Score: 1

Why don't we all get to the punch on this wireless stuff, and get laser networks going? Aim a laser at your neighbour on the network, have a pulser 'modulate' the signal, and have a readout system sensitive to the level of light.

No more band allocation troubles! :-) And the signal would be very directional avoiding all sorts of interference. CON: A hefty lawsuit if you aim it into someone's eyes.

I agree, so why not use our ability with networking to solve the problem. The goal is to see that students can code their way out of a paper bag.

Why not have a class of networked boxes and then 'test' the students by having them come in and write their code while the network is shut down, preventing the students from getting access to any help during the test. Take the floppys and CDROMs out and they can't bring in outside help. There could be bonus marks for speed.
