Flippancy is great - it is our inbuilt and natural coping mechanism in a world that frequently presents us with events beyond our ability to manage, thereby allowing us to retain our sanity. But, sometimes, we need to take a step back and allow ourselves to realise the full severity of them.
After today's tragedies, shouldn't we be talking about ways to stop death, rather than joking about ways to cause it?
(Semi-caveat: I don't mean to sound like a harbinger of doom and gloom. It's just that I have two beautiful girls in the room above my head, and as a result I feel so deeply for those who have suffered the ultimate tragedy today)
I live in Dubai, and if you're in a bar with bluetooth enabled then it's possible that you'll get a vcard sent to you...
Don't start booking your flights here yet though - apparently they're only from hookers. Needless to say, I've started switching bluetooth off in certain bars now:)
I might be misunderstanding, but is this going to mean no Servlet support for IIS? It's one of the areas that I wanted to start learning very soon but as so many people use inferior webservers:) it'd be pretty pointless. *sigh* Shame if it means that IIS won't support it
But what's the POINT?? It just totally screws up existing protocols that have been tried, tested and proven to work totally well. And what if we want to browse to an asian site? Seriously, lets say you have a friend in China and he has an article up that you want to read that's in english. HTF are we supposed to get to it?
Wheras these guys can view the entire internet, they also have their own "private" section that only very few of the western world can access.
tom
Come on, we invented it, we populated it, we control it, and now the Asian hordes are trying to subvert it.
Almost right...we invented it, that's true. We control it is also true. But it only takes one quick search for a totally innocent topic, ie. the other day I was looking for info on a bug in MSIE, and you get a shitload of asian porn sites popping up.
I wouldn't care, but I can't find the Preview button. All the more reason for them to use english only chars:)
Tom
So how's this gonna work for systems not set up to handle the asian character set? Lets say I want to send to joe.bloggs@somechinesename.net from my FBSD or Linux boxes? Not too much fun, I think...
</pitiful-rant> !
