  1. Lessons from the Old and Wise on What Today's Coders Don't Know and Why It Matters · · Score: 4, Funny

I do agree with you. I'm new to programming myself, but I've always felt the need to learn more about the computer than just the high-level language. That's why I want to take up PERL. Apparently, there's still a strong Ruby community out there, so I might take that up as well. On top of that, I like to plan out my programs. I like to know exactly what it will do before I do it, which may require writing out the code first. I'm only two years into programming, so I still have a long way to go. I just want to make sure that what I do is very efficient so that all my future supervisor has to do is sit back and trust me.

  2. Byproducts creating intelligence? on Can AI Games Create Super-Intelligent Humans? · · Score: 1

I don't think that would be the case. The PEOPLE CREATING the AI are the ones that are teaching the gamers, not the game itself. It's just being taught THROUGH the game, and that's not entirely true. If the gamers are able to derive equations for better AI handling by watching other AI in progress, then good for them. However, it still stands that if you really wanted game AI to become smarter, just do what everyone else already does: go to AI classes.

  3. Interesting on Chain World — Innovative Game Design Sparks Debate · · Score: 1

I thought it was an interesting concept. Sure, the world doesn't work like that exactly, but, in a way, it does. He just simplified it. How many things have we enjoyed only because of our predecessor's efforts? Quite a lot. In fact, quite a few things change only because of one, and only one, person. It's just that a whole lot of people have done that, most of which at the same time. It's not supposed to be a full-on game. Jason Rohrer does this in his works [games]. They're supposed to make an overall statement. I like the idea...probably wouldn't play it long, not saying that I could, but very interesting.
