  1. An antivirus firm finds malware...surprise on Two-Thirds of Lost USB Drives Carry Malware · · Score: 1

Sophos has every reason to find more malware than anyone on here would expect to find on lost USB sticks. I've been an SA for a long time and Malware just isn't as common as the antivirus firms would like everyone to believe it is. I'd like to know what their definition of malware is for this informal "study". It's probably so loose as to be a joke. Whenever I've found malware, it's never removed by any antivirus program out there. They're all completely worthless, but I guess it keeps people working and that's great. If they did indeed find actual malware, which I highly doubt, then I'd say the USB sticks were planted for fools to pick up and shove in their hungry usb holes.

Of course they will expect you to work late uncompensated, that's what being "exempt" is all about. You're a professional, so you work until the job is done. By the same token, if you leave early one day, you're theoretically not supposed to take a PTO hit for that, but it never works out that way. Companies have managed to twist that around. Same thing as if you leave at 5 you're a clock watcher, but if you get in on time, that's just to be expected and apparently required no clock watching. It's a typical corporate double standard. This is just one more way politicians are handing our money over to the corporations who pay them. Start paying your senator and maybe you can have a voice, too.

There's hardly anything technical about this and here's another secret shhh this stuff barely matters, even to nerds. A big charade and anybody who believes any of it has any basis in reality needs a real education. It's a 3 ring circus. The truth is this is a stupid time to even be concerned about the debt. Many more pressing matters to attend to. Nobody that knows anything thinks out debt is even a problem, especially in light of the percent of gdp compared to other nations. Whatever distracts you from what matters though!

  6. Re:...and patients who don't complete the course on Drug-Resistant Superbugs Sweeping Across Europe · · Score: 0

They're probably not really either foolish or idiotic. Many antibiotics often do have an anti inflammatory effect. Example: an acute case of Hepatitis b (a virus) often cause massive inflammation of the liver. You'd treat that with an antibiotic, even though the cause is viral. So we'll get so called "smart" patients, who think they know everything and they're all confused why we'd treat something caused by a virus with an antibiotic. Same with many other afflictions, so people aren't really stupid thinking they have an affect, it's just not having any effect on the root cause. Maybe they learned to take antibiotics for viruses at the hospital. :) The truth is, people aren't really all that stupid; they're just busy and get crummy explanations for everything, if they get one at all. After working their shit job (probably two of them), the average broke-ass American (with two unplanned kids) hardly has the time to come home and start a research project. And the tight lipped doctors, who barely speak to them, are hardly going to offer up anything (worried they'll be sued to death) and because doctors are generally kinda jerky, frankly. When's the last time you had a half hour chit chat about any little thing you could think of with your doctor? Unlikely. More likely you were rushed out of there in about 5 minutes. Long enough for him to prescribe something to shut you up and get you out. I love how we sit around and make fun of the stupid people our system totally exploit "They who have put out the peoples eyes reproach them of their blindness. "
