Well, technically there is no such thing as either C flat or B sharp. Neither exist in standard musical nomenclature... There is certainly a half-tone between B and C, but no specified step. And, by the way, either way of denoting sharps and flats is acceptable, and it is dependent on the context and key of the music--F# == Gb.
Obviously one who has never taken LSD would not consider it to have some funny properties... I see it as a particularly safe way to experience the supernatural. Crack, however, is not very funny... It's a particularly dangerous method of developing a tenacious addiction.
I hate to tell you, but this is entirely untrue. Neuropsychologists are still unsure about the method of action of THC, but believe it lies in its similarity to the neurotransmitter anandamide. Pot has never been shown to cause any sort of brain damage in the short or the long term (discounting the fact that smoking any plant releases noxious fumes, this can be bypassed by vaporizing the drug). Pot can indeed cause paranoia, but this is akin to saying that alcohol can cause recklessness and poor driving abilities--it just comes along with the positive effects of the drug. About the reference to schizophrenia, current research does indeed show a small correlation with extremely heavy pot youth pot use and depression/schizophrenia in later life, but none of these links are causal, and many of the researchers performing the experiments indicated that the data may be skewed, as the individuals could have been self-medicating for preexisting depression or mental illness. One has to face the fact that marijuana is orders of magnitude safer than alcohol or tobacco.
Indeed this would be true if 30 MB/s was a true measurement. Most HDD's now are 30 MB/s peak burst. There is no way a hard drive can keep up at 30 MB/s for the entire track length of the drive.
I will totally agree with you on the fact that there's more to a motherboard than just the chipset. As an OEM, however, I have to tell you that we had to be very picky about what we built systems with. We would begin by using a sampling of motherboards, and then we would stick with the one with the fewest problems. Many of the boards would have a tough time just getting through the setup for whatever OS was put on it. Quality power supply, quality cooling, and quality RAM sometimes just aren't enough to get a motherboard ROCK SOLID. The only ones, as I said before, that performed PERFECTLY were the ALi Magik chipset boards. --
Perhaps they should be reviewing the total stability of any given solution. I for one know that I used to have an Iwill board based on the ALi MaGIK chipset, and it was a hell of a lot more stable than my current KT266A.
I couldn't agree more. It's kind of like the difference between exposed motion film and home-video tapes. The video tapes obviously view at a higher framerate--everything is smoother and quicker, but it also looks cheesier and more like, well a home movie! The slight flickering of film has been associated with pretty much everybody's subconscious as "quality picture," and I don't see that changing soon.
I disagree. The user doesn't necessarily have to run the executable. Many modern virii, such as Nimda, can be run as an embedded script in a html document. Anybody running IE on a Microsoft platform (many, many, MANY people) is vulnerable, and it is quite undetectable. Also, since the FBI has virtually unlimited money and human-resources, it is not unfeasible that they will write a virus that will be significantly more difficult to detect. This is why people should be worried.
--the people of Palestine have been raised on the basic assumption that America is an evil set of corporations and power-hungry rulers that has ruined their lives. This, in essence, is completely true. We have sided with their enemy. We have helped to destroy their innocent civilians and their land. These people have no hope but to commit such acts to attract attention to their situation. God knows we weren't listening before, but look now! I completely understand the motivation behind such an ordeal. America stands on other countries to put itself in a position of power. Even more unfortunately, the Department of Defense is going to start carpet-bombing the country of the attack's origin, even though the person (or people) who organized the strike probably aren't even there. We will end up killing just as many innocent people, and ultimately committing a counter-act of terrorism. I sincerely hope that trigger-happy George W. doesn't jump the gun on this one, but somehow I think that the popular American opinion of "Bomb the bastards!" will prevail.
I don't quite get why they decided to call this an error... It's not like some computer-gremlin magically adjusted all of the prefs to no. This is unfortunate, as these sorts of computer-gremlins would provide excellent excuses in the IT world...
