What you are actually refering to is considered 'IDM' or Intelligent Dance Music. One of the best examples of this is a label named Warp Records @ Warprecords.com . What this article is refering to is even beyond the scope of 'Clicks and Cuts'. If you want IDM, listen to Autechre, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin or kid606. These guys have been using Apple laptops for years.
If you really want to stick it to the man, buy all of your CD's used. Most of the time you can get a CD for less than $8, and I find they are generally in great condition. Not only does your money go directly back into your community, but it does not find it's way into the deep pockets of the RIAA
This is by far the best webpage relating to the books. It was taken down for a few months due to some issues with the movie's page(more than likely because it blew it out of the water), but is back up now. It uses much of the information from the atlas, and is one of the best uses of flash I have seen to date. Everything is cross referenced, and interrelates well. This is a must see for any fan.

I thought it was illegal to own a gold bar in the United States. I know it says bullion, but it also states that the metals are also in bars. If the gold is stored outside of the U.S., are there legal issues?
Seeming that you are a *nix geek like most of us here, what do you think of OSX by Apple? Because it is backed by an open sourced OS, does Micro$oft see this as a threat?
Why does the U.S. Government feel that it needs to impose restrictions and regulations on something that it has no controll over? How can we pass laws that will not be relevent to many of the people that they would supposedly affect? We would have to be one unified governing body acting as mankind and not as individual countries to restrict or govern an organism like the Internet.
I first bought the Celeron A 300 a few years ago. It was touted at the "easily overclocked" chip. I ran it at 600Mhz for a few weeks, but it would crash all of the time. For someone that runs Linux as a primary OS, that is not good at all. Everytime I would reboot, I would hope that it would pass fcsk. Spend the extra couple of bucks if it is that important to have a CPU that fast. I will stick to slow but stable.
I will assume that this weapon will be able to fry more than people. You may be able to use it for making toast really fast among other things.
I think that there may be many more uses by lazy people than for the military.
"NIST strongly encourages the public to continue performing analyses
of the security of the AES, and to submit those analyses as official
comments in response to this request."
Looks like they want some input.
The real issue is that the U.S Government decides who and when they go after. I am sure that they got sick and tired of Micro$hit not kicking back enough money, or there was too much public pressure not to just let it go. If you want to talk about about a monopoly, you can jump right in to the Record Industry.
Therefore, as soon as a company mentions Linux in a positive way, regardless of how insignificant, the slashdot.org crowd throws a virtual equivalent of Mardi Gras
I like Mardi Gras

I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but added to the list is the interaction with Windows.
I found that QNX is great for the newbie that may be afraid to wipe out Windoz, but who still wants to play with a *nix type OS. Sorta reminds me of BEOS.

The one thing that kept me popular in college was an endless supply of bottle openers (don't ask how).
George Soros list:
Survive Nazi occupation of Hungary
Become billionaire
Give money to the poor
Write book about Globalization
Have Jon Katz write dribble about
your book making it look like a pile
of shit
Jon, next time make sure you read the book before you write something relating to it.
