^ All of this. I in no way claim to be a regular Linux user but I am a developer and know my way around the terminal. But even when dealing with some of the "easier" distros (Ubuntu, Mint, etc.) I hit some of the weirdest bugs, usually involving drivers. Due to the lack of useful bug fix posts (which most users shouldn't even need to search for) it can sometimes take hours or days to fix something that shouldn't have even been a bug in the first place.
I should never have to worry about my OS not recognizing my monitor, ignoring some USB devices, or failing to recognize my wireless card.
I absolutely agree with you. UI's should be rather simple for the lay user so they can just pick it up and go. I think the real problem here (as others have mentioned) is the lack of advanced options. As a power user, I feel hindered by the Ribbon UI but if I could find some option hidden away in the deep recesses of the preference that would change it, everything would be fine.
Exactly. Not to mention, if we just phase out these languages in place of new languages then what happens after you've learned your nth new language and now you have to maintain some code written in an "old" language?
It was worth commenting on Firefox releases right after they started the shorter release cycle. Now it's become the norm and is just a waste of news space to talk about it. If I want to hear the latest news on Firefox builds, I'll follow them on Twitter.
Google is blatantly ignoring and degrading their users, Mozilla is forcing their users to install a new version more often which seems increasingly less stable, is everyone losing sight of the user?
I've never used the paid Skype service and I really don't see the reason to (why else do I have a cellphone?). As long as I can still setup video calls with my friends for free, I really couldn't care less.
I genuinely cringed when you said no version control. My opinion? Run away or revamp the whole system. All kinds of shit happens without version control.
Agreed. One only needs to make a quick YouTube search for police brutality to know that police behavior is under moderated. Now there's no almost no excuse for "your word against mine" kind of cases.

Obligatory wisdom from George Carlin. It's only a matter of time before idly standing around is banned.

You mean it was still around?

Agreed. If I'm in a coding mood, then you'll usually find me coding. Otherwise you'll find me in front of an FPS, RPG, or platformer.
Between Firefox 4 and Firefox 6. Are they even doing releases anymore or just bug fixes?
Maybe we should be questioning the intelligence of the humans put up against it.

Why else is OP posting a 2 year old article?
because first off, you wouldn't call it "elite." Also, ever heard of Hack This Site?
