Actually, Kodak recycles more than 90% of the material in their one-time use cameras. All the plastic and glass is ground down and remanufactured. The only thing they don't recycle themselves is the batteries for the flash, but I think they outsource that to someone else. Kodak and Xerox are both really big into remanufacturing, which is A Good Thing. :)

My workstation at home has 2 1 gig drives in it, and until I see the need for anything more, thats all that will be in there.

486s are good for a few things, specifically routers. I just gave away 8 30 pin simms to a guy who had a board for them; he's using it as a router for his home LAN. I got some 64 meg EDO simms for them, which didn't work in his motherboard, but work great alongside the pc100 sdram in my Soyo E5HM.

I most likely would have taken those 486s by the dumpster and found some use for them, even if it was just to use as storage space for the LAN, assuming the hard drives still spun up.

The only truely useless hardware for anything other than old time gaming (playing Wolfenstein 3D on my workstation, a p2-233 with 384 megs of ram is just not fun) is 286 and 386 class boards, because they can't run modern OS's (esp. 286's). Who needs a GUI anyway?

It's got my secondary DNS/IRC server in it now, but I'd gladly trade it for another AT case. I sure don't need all the space for a machine with 2 NICs and a video card.
