This is an x86 optimised compiler and so since transmeta emulates x86, it was obvious that Transmeta would also benefit from it. Then it became a "Intel helped transmeta without knowing it haha" thing but I'm sure even the AMD chip perf improves with this compiler
I've found this to be a common problem these days because a lot of students nowadays are bored with just implementing and doing what your professors tell you to. It is so limiting , when you just have to bother about reaching deadlines et al.
Agrees, you could try your hand in projects you think are interesting but you'll have to choose between the great mark or some great fun and ideally, this stupid choice shouldn't exist.
The educational system should be improved. This kind of learning was for our grandfathers, not for us
The actual lesson here to be learnt here is not about what kind of war to fight or not fight in Afghanistan but to be extremely careful about who you give "aid" to in a conflict. The US gave aid to the Muhaja... and this eventually backwired.
Even if you keep feeding a snake everyday, one day the snake will turn back and bite you.
Anyway in the grand scheme of things I hope humanity learns from its mistakes and raises its consciousness.
Its not when ( and if ) we find them. It's when they choose to show themselves to us. Maybe we haven't reached a sufficient stage of evolution or technological developement yet.
Maybe their prime directive doesn't allow them to interact with us yet.
oR MAYBE I've been watching too much of Star trek
There are 13 colleges around the University of melbournne and I stay to one close to Whitley called International House . When I first came to this college nearly 2 yrs ago, I was surprised to find a network of about 200 computers run by students. I joined the committee then and I have benefitted so much from the experience. One of the best things that has come out from the whole experience is my introduction to the world of Open Source. I was pretty much living in an MS world before that. I still do like my Win 2K system but really love Open Source and all what its stands for.
Students running the network here seems to be the most logical thing to me. Our committee is a totally transparent committee and is quite knowlegable and we've provided a much better service than what a professional company could ever hope to acheive. We sit down and talk with the students and when things go wrong at 12 in the night, we're on it immediately . Some of the programs we write are all written by ourselves which is a big advantage for us Software Engineering students. A network run by students is not going to be a success everywhere because it is essential that people who run it are dedicated to the assimilation of knowledge and thankfully in my college there are a few people like that .
You are so right. We are a global economy
I can't wait for the day when we're all united as citizens of earth. When we all work for the betterment for ourselves and for the betterment of humanity.
Watching star Trek has taught me a lot of great stuff and one of the best things it has taught me is that we can achieve so much if we all work together.:)
"CHEAP CODERS == CHEAP CODE"
Not necessarily. I knew this one American Guy who didn''t write good code.
I knew this one Australian who didn't write good code.
I knew this one Indian who didn't write good.
I knew this one Russian Guy who wrote bad code.
Lesson == There are good programmers and bad programmers everywhere . I think it is unfair to state something like this because of one coder. It was the fault of your company to keep this one guy for 2 years after writing "bad code" and it was unfortunate that you guys had to clean up the code.
And I'm from Australia but I'm not sure of how things work in the US.
I am not too familiar with what H1 visas mean
But what I can't understand is why do people with H1 visas get paid lower for the same job as a local??
Nope, with all the reasoning IE still has a much larger user base.
Being available in all platforms is not an advantage .
Since you haven't used any of the latest versions of IE since you don't use Windows, you couldn't possible judge IE.
"Look at some of the Linux sites.
Netscape outranks IE by far"
True but IE doesn't even compete here. We're talking about the platform that both IE and NS compete in
On the topic of OSes, there's this one real funny site I went to recently which tells us about Microsoft's next generation of Os's.
Its funny but a scary thought
Anyways
go to
MS Linux !!
just a note, this mercury thing has been developed by the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science http://www.cs.mu.oz.au

Thats what Transmeta does.
