....talking about ethics, shouldn't the money rather be taken from defense iso of nasa ? There's nothing unethical about spending money on science and exploration, which is one's of mankind major assets.
On the other hand,... spending it on warfare and killing however seems much harder to justify.
(And be sure that the military, really have more than enough old equipment hanging around there just to give you that free/phone/internet/whatever if economical and politic intrests weren't ruling the world)
The Sacred Readme is a tad vague, but the church's High Priest believes that "The Meaning Of Life" is encoded in either a popular song, or a Hollywood movie, or an Adobe e-book.
wrong it's actually a BBC hearplay called the hitchhikers_guide_to_the_galaxy
If only we could figure out which 'work of art' the Sacred Readme refers to, and then grep through the binary representation to extract the divine message," the High Priest explains.
wrong again grepping is not enough..they '' have to use ROT-42 on the wave-file of the hearing
Yep.. your defeatly right on all points and openboot would be the real neat replacement.
just wanted to add that I don't even see why
protected mode drivers would be any faster than real mode ones.. i would guess the bios is mostly doing polling/io stuff also full 32 bit instructions are still available in real mode if
they need fast moves
"You're absolutely right, which is why it's just as important for Linux distributions to come locked down tight as it is for Windows distributions to come locked down tight. Microsoft isn't listening; are RedHat and the others?"
yep, you hit the nail... for me it's been the main reason why I prefered an OpenBSD machine as my firewall. Gives me a cosy feeling, knowing that at least some guys checked out all those things
I would have missed due to lazyness or ignorance.
(of course no protection for myself messing it up:-))
Also not enabeling every possible deamon is a great way to learn lots about the things you really need. (how too enable/disable / configure/...)
Anybody knows about some equivalent linux distro ?
