    Don't Belive it!!

It doesn't work, I spent 3 years in that role. you spend all your time wishing, and women just use you when they need their computer tweaked,

or you get called at 3 in the morning when you are locked in a killer death match of quake by the cute blond who wants to check her email and can't rember how to dial in. or the 4 in the morning call "My computer crashed and now I can't print out my paper due at 8am", and if you are really lucky they are only calling one at a time.
True Story: I was walking one through the removal of the stoned virus when another "computer friend" called needing to reinstall windows becasue of the MTE Encription virus ate Her hard drive.

I have never cleaned so many word-macro viruses in 2 months as I did my senior year.

Hell now I do the samething, but I make $85 an hour and I don't get the idle flirtations.

  3. Isn't this typical? on Intel Creates 30-Nanometer Transistors · · Score: 1

Just when you find something good they go and cut costs.

They were going to have to cut back somewhere, heck if they can get away with using less silicon that should boost earnings. That will improve 4th quarter earnings, if not then first quarter next year.

Heck look at cars, when they started making them good and durable, that could handle a 100MPH crash. Without being totaled. Big business goes and cuts costs, making them with plastic, and aluminum. Now cars are lucky if they survive a 5mph bump in the driveway

I can see the warning on the box now: "Overclockers beware, a 2 degree increase in tempature and these silicon atoms will fuse into a new hunk of silicon."

long live the Pentium 166(non-mmx) The only cpu I have had that will running for more than a year without a reboot. While running a print/fileserver.

When I switched ISP's I had to call my old one and tell them I wanted to cancel my service.
before I decided to change I called tech support and asked them what they could do to fix the problem. (mainly inability to stay connected/slow service)
their Reply: "The problem must be your modem or phonelines."
    My Reply: "Hummm"
At this point I called the other 3 ISP's and asked if I could get a free trial account to "test" their service which they abliged me with. Testing each during peak hours for speed and connectability.
So when I called to cancel my contract with QWERTY.net internet service they asked my reason. I told them "Gee all those problems I was having, seemed to all go away when I started using XYZ.net's service. Now I can download files and read slashdot without having to reconnect to read the next page."

(names have been changed to protect the really sucky onemain.com internet service)

I was browsing the net the other day and found a great little white paper on how to make a linux baised firewall out of an old pentium computer(With the addition of 2 network cards).
It is pretty sweet addition for any cable modem or DSL line, It allows the user to use the service with an unlimited computers on the inside (well not more than 253).
It was a pretty good way to relive my old P75, but most anywhere you can pickup a pentium 100 for 30 bucks at a garage sale and two 10/100 network cards for 20 bucks each.

Think about it you can overclock your computer and not have to worry about cooling. At 60 meters down the water is a constant tempature. So overclocking the heck out of the processor(as long as it is set directly on the metal case) you would not have to worry about needing more cooling.

Though it would make it pretty hard to change cd's.
