It was knives and box cutters/openers according to a CNN contact who was onboard and calling the station before it went down. No shots fired - not that it made any difference.
LucasFilm has no right to interfere with a porn flick of a farmer and a princess having sex in a galaxy far far away, even if they're brothers (Is star wars rated higher because of that kiss scene BTW?). But if you call them "Luke" and "Leia", then they might get pissed.
Perhaps the farmboy could be called "Lucky" and the princess "Laid"?
Sorry for the sick image, I was just trying to get my point across.
Its only a sick image if you also get a Wookie(tm) and a jar of "Jabba the Hutt(tm) Fried Chicken Grease" involved.
BTW - Read the article again. They are talking about "Supply Chain Management". This is tracking packages and palletes of goods through a factory from start of manufacture to shipping. Go to a factory, learn how a bar code is used (at a previous employer we tracked all stages of steel production using bar code technology... do you think we were worried about someone walking out of the plant with a 20 Ton coil of steel under their arm?).
Have you ever had a UPS/FedEx/Airborne delivery? Bet that scared the $hit out of you knowing that not only did someone have a package with a barcode with your name on it (that could be tracked over the internet by those malicious/. 31337 h4x0rs), but they also knew where you lived.
Privacy is important, but pick the right fight to fight.
To bring our dog into the USA and ensure that we can take her back to Australia without any problems, she was tagged with a RF chip (about the size of a grain of rice) in the scruff of her neck. She is yet to have her eating habits processed, her urinary accomplishments scruntised, or sent to Washington to perform oral^H^H^H^H (sorry, that becomes law AFTER Bush gets in).
We are already tagged and traceable - get in your car (licence plate), use your credit card (location/spending habits), use you Ralph's card ("market research"), borrow a book at the library ("hmmm... 'Anarchists Cookbook'. Is that a load of fertiliser and diesel that you are tracking down Penn Ave?")
There are too many people who confuse privacy with paranoia.
The article is about a replacement for barcodes... get over it.
Does this mean that the founders of Sega are going to split off and create an interactive sushi bar experience for anklebiters? Perhaps we will see a chain of Sonic Burger restaurants...
Damn, knew there was a trick to the 3D effect. And here I was sitting (nearly) naked in front of the computer at 1 in the morning looking like like a real geek wearing those Red/Blue 3D glasses.
Like most art, it will be under appreciated until the artist dies... or he drops his Palm Vx on the floor and it dies (the spiderweb effect on the screen of my Palm Pro after I dropped it had a magical, almost artistic effect, that moved me emotionally too).
Wait for your next AOL coaster to arrive. Like selling drugs, the first 500 hours will be free, and then it will only cost you $20/month for unlimited access.
Actually, I think he said he wanted the internet to be a tax free trade zone. And while I can't vote over here, I still pay the same taxes as you guys do... so I am all for that.
I'm not sure any of this has a real "nerd" slant - it's all simply pro-Democrat pap...
OK, I'm not entitled to vote in the USA (being one of those lowly paid H1-B Visa workers being exploited (sorry, wrong post)), but this is the first time I have watched the political process in the USA.
After watching the debates (they are like car crashes - you have to slow down and have a look), I really can't see how you can say that there is no "nerd" slant. Just take a look at Gore. The guy carries and USES a Palm Pilot, and knows that the internet is more than just AOL. If he could configure a beowlf cluster you guys would be clamouring all over him 8^).
- Conference calling (stick your finger in someone elses ear).
- Maintenance contract (coton buds sent to you once a month).
- Coloured face plates (gloves).
- Handsfree car kit (stick your toe in you ear - only available to drivers of automatic 4x4's and Lexii).
It could only happen in Japan... but despite how rediculous this sort of technology might sound, the related spinoff tech might actually have real applications.
Personally, I hope that we get a version of Linux working on the Palm soon, before WindowsCE becomes the only mainstream interface.
Umm, but isn't Palm with its >70% market share the dominant interface for this type of device??
Oh, me bad... you mean that you want to access your calendar, contacts, todo list, notepad functions from a command line interface (painful using grafitti, jot or even t9)... or do you want an overriding X style interface instead?
Grow up - a device should be fit for purpose, not fit for Linux.
... and it takes people from overseas to fill the gaps in skills left by the 90% of morons. Yes, I am on an H1-B Visa... no, I am not an endentured slave... at the end of my Visa I will be returning to a country where the quality of life is far better than anything I have seen here so far (not a criticism, just an observation). I am not taking a job from a skilled US citizen, there were none available with my skill set. I am being compensated for my time more than adequately... I work roughly a 10 hour day (does that make me a slacker?)... and I still have time for a social life. Sometimes I think the 90% of the population that are morons (as stated in a previous message) are the ones who are bitching about the H1-B Visas 'cos pappy dun told em thet thay was much better then them thar cus theys learnt to read and write proper like. Get a life, get over it... are you out of a job because of an H1-B Visa recipient? Are you being paid less becasue of an H1-B recipient??

If you are on AOL, then you'll need more than Black Ice to save you.
How does it go ...
