So, I think it is very old news... I mean, as far back as junior high, I was doing reports on controversial subjects at school... And the damn computers never let me go to any sights, so I took the situation into my own hands (not that I should need to, but I wanted to do the report) and took down our filter (called bess)... This then got me suspended for 2 weeks, a court date, and kicked out of my english class. How's that for america... And the ironic thing was that i was looking up information on communism at the time...
You know what... I for one am all for boycotting the MPAA, but not by not going to see movies. I enjoy a good flick, and I'm not about to stop seeing movies becuase some monopolized company has taken over the movie industry and threatened the future of free speech. The benevolant way to approach this problem is simple. Boycott the MPAA by not giving into their demands. Make DeCSS openly available, put it up on your webpage. Play DVD's on linux. SKIP THE PREVIEWS. And do your part by handing out flyers to raise people's awareness on the whole subject. This isn't just to help 2600, this is to help everone that values free speech.
I once thought this as well (when i wasn't as l33t as I am today (and yes I AM BEING SARCASTIC)) but what I've come to learn (throuhg painstaking research, no less) that 2600 is infact a drop tone for payphones. This might not be what the 2600 stands for, but it would make sense.

After reading these articles, I've come to a number of conclusions about candidates, internet, and government. I believe that Al Gore, did indeed have alot to do with the creation of the internet (even if he's a techno weenie, he still supported it, which is almost as important as creating it). I believe that Ralph Nader is against mega corporations becoming more and more powerful (which I can't necisarily disagree with). He believes that if bush is elected that he will make a small government (which I don't mind, and I don't believe Nader is opposed to... in theory) but, bush's reasoning for doing this is so that these megacorporations can take over. Nader most definately does not like that.
Alright, i'm not the most versed on PGP, but wouldn't it be feasable to have a CGI (or some kind of script) run a different PGP encryption table every couple of minutes on a html code of the DeCSS code (i'm thinking along the lines of securID)

First off, is there a seperation of church and stat??? Not by looking at this. Because, the US government is obviously against gays, and where would they get the idea that being gay is wrong??? From the bible... and I'm not bashing the bible, because most catholics I know, even if they're not pro gay, are pretty benevolent about it, and are harmless. Seriously, what the hell is this society coming to, WHY must we feel that being a homo-sexual is wrong??? It's out fucking society, and it's pissing me off. All you redneck, whitetrash, anti-gay, racist stupid motherfuckers out there... Get a fucking clue, there is no reason for you to hold such hatred towards these people.
I really have very little to complain about, personally. I'm a white, straight, male living in suburbia...... But society irks me.

First off, I'm all for freedom of religion (I personally worship Negatism, which is my own, obviously). And I have nothing against, LEGITIMATE, practicing wiccans, or whoever else falls into the catagory. Where my problem lies is the people that are only trying to cause a disturbance in the system. These people are those that will listen to heavy metal, and assume that by killing sparky, their dog, that they are practicing satanists, and that their rights are prrotected, and that they should be able to kill sparky, the dog (This is just an example, not to offend any metal heads, hell, i'm a metal head, in a metal band, http://www.thyatira.com). These, generally, are the same people that whine and moan about how christianity/catholosism (sorry, I can't spell) are all they hear about. There's a very good reason for this, it's because 99% of americans are one of the two. Religion is just like anything else, of course you're going to hear about it more, if more people follow it. Take sports for instance, you hear about football every day of the week, but you don't hear about the US fish hucking team, do you??? it's because football's more popular. This doesn't meant that, if you're legitimate, that you shouldn't be able to practice your own religion, I have no problem worshipping how I want to worship. Now, there is the problem of legitimately practicing alternate religions in school, but that's a whole essay (which I've written, email me if you want a copy) and I don't have time for that right now.

In my humble opinion, I believe, it makes little difference why the government wants to snoop on our email, it's the fact that they are. There's the old metaphor "If you don't have anything to hide, you don't have anything to worry about" granted, in theory this is beautiful, it couldn't be farther from the truth. I could write my sister an email saying my son wet his bed, and do I want the government knowing that? It's not that I'm hiding, it's a thing (which now has become very very close to obsolete) called PRICAVY. If I want to talk to someone, let me do it, I don't need big brother standing over me and asking me how many fingers he's holding up.
You may view this as extreme... But, I think we have to stop it early, before it gets out of hand... Governments do things one small step at a time, until we don't even notice when we have no rights anymore. Take for example Hitler and WWII (terrible terrible person, by the way). He slowly became more and more oppressive to the jews, and they didn't (largely) notice it. They noticed that they were mistreated, but even as they walked into their death showers, they believed that they were getting bathed, when infact they were being exterminated.
Now, i'm not saying the white house is the next hitler (I pray there never is another hitler) but with every oppressive action the government takes, there is one more step to a completely orwellian society

I think everyone's along the right lines here. There is no way in hell that windows could last three weeks (I believe my own quote, back in the day was "It's been on for 2 days, I need to let it cool down a lil, and then reboot it....") Granted I've heard all of the storied about linux running for years at a time and never needing a reboot (i mean, I've been running RH7 for about 2 weeks now, and have had no problems with it (and i've got a 10 gig swap, but that's not the point)). So, people, quit complaining that it has a bug.... I mean, how much money does redhat actually make off of you, like 10 bucks a pop???
