No the problem is also with the GMO. I don't have a problem with GMO food in itself, since food is just food, but we have to acknowledge that when you start to modify the structure and genes of something that you but into your bloodstream there is always a risk that it will produce some kind of side effects that can disastrous effects on your health if there are not performed rigorous safety testings.
All in all, your "examples", some of which I personally disagree with (having lived through that time) are from 13-20 years ago, 2 CEO's ago, and aren't relevant. Microsoft isn't the same as it was back then, I suspect less than 2% of the workforce that is there now is still there (could be wrong, I just pulled that number out of the air), but the idea stands the same. Not many employees remain that were there are that time, and it's gone under two different CEO's since then.
But it is still the same company. Where any of the CEO involved in this charged with anything? No because the people themselves are not being charged it is the company. Which one is it? Either the individuals are to blame or the company as a whole is to blame. If Microsoft doesn't want to be associated with the bad things they have done in the past, they should disband the company and create a new one with a different name. Now you say: "But the Microsoft name is a valuable asset". Yes but then you also have to live with the bad things also assocated with that name. You can't just take the good and leave out the bad.
Yes I loathe MS because I am an old timer in this industry and I have seen all this crap from Microsoft first hand and been burned by it. Just look at Embrace, extend and extinguish in Wikipedia to get a few real life examples. All of this happened!
.Net is from Microsoft and therefore Microsoft doesn't have to EEE it's own product. Saying.Net is open source is a misnomer. Taking a real life.Net application and moving to a different platform is basically impossible. Everything in.Net is dictated by Microsoft. Just try to take any.Net project programmed 10 years ago and try to get it to compile in the latest Visual Studio, I can guarantee you will run into major problems. Believe me I know.
The difference from the other projects is that they have been behaving like saints compared to Microsoft. So they can be trusted much more than Microsoft
It doesn't matter how long ago it was. They where sentenced as Microsoft and they still are Microsoft. Microsoft has shown that they are willing to break to law. As an example is the case Microsoft against Sun for the Java runtime that shows that they are prepared to use any illegal tactic to destroy the competition, especially famous is their Embrace, extend and extinguish tactic. So given the history of they company it is no surprise that people have reservations about any "open source" project they have and if this Chakra project becomes successful I think we don't have to wait to long before the extend and extinguish part comes along.
The ATF has finally unveiled its new hand gun registration rules. Starting on 21 December, all newly-purchased hand guns between.22 and.500 caliber must be registered before their first use. Owners of hand guns purchased before that time must register by 19 February 2016. The ATF will charge $5 to register the hand guns, though the first month of registrations will be free. "Make no mistake: gun enthusiast are militia, and with that title comes a great deal of responsibility," said ATF director John Doe. "Registration gives us an opportunity to work with these users to operate their guns safely. I'm excited to welcome these new gun enthusiast into the culture of safety and responsibility that defines American innovation." There is also an age requirement: kids under the age of 13 will not be allowed to register a gun by themselves.
This will not happen, I can assure that Happy Birthday will not be entering the public domain any time soon. When there is money to be made the corporate scumbags will do anything to keep this copyrighted perpetually.
I could have told them 2 years ago that this was a braindead idea. This was maybe viable in 2003-2005 when the smart phones where starting to appear, but doing something like this now, when Apple, Android and Windows dominate the market is just futile. It's like trying to develop a new consumer operating system for x86 computers, that market is full and complete and doing so is never going to catch on.
I don't get this. The purpose of training is to be able to handle both known and unknown scenarios. It doesn't matter if the Airbus 320 was designed for this or that. There is always the possibility of something happening that aircraft makers where not anticipating, that is one of the reasons why we have humans in charge instead of just computers, because humans can solve unexpected problems.
If the pilots wheren't aduquately trained then their supervisors should be held responsible.
So are you telling me that user apps can modify the OS and run as root? Are Google developers complete morons or are the TV developers complete morons?
If the intellegency can't do their job just because Anonymous is shutting down public Twitter accounts and flodding Rick Astley video on hashtags, then they are not competent at their job. They have direct access to all these social media databases which Anonymous doesn't.
Anything that hinders ISIS in spreading their message is a good thing.
There is no such thing as too complex especially when you have the resources of Microsoft. All you have to do is to emulate the Android API at a high level. The only problems are those application that have native Linux binary code.
Who says it will be possible to move to a different platform? Microsoft now owns Minecraft and they can do whatever they want with it. They may be using Python now, but that can change in a heartbeat.
Embrace: Microsoft encourages schools and kids to learn programming with Minecraft. Extend: Minecraft will include some extra new exciting features, but they are only available for Windows. Extinguish: Everyone is using these features and the next version of Minecraft only runs on the next version of Windows and must be programmed with.NET. You kids better upgrade all of your shit to Windows if you want to continue to learn programming with Minecraft.
1) It is possible some illegals use more than one SSN. 2) The 12 millions are an estimation, give we are talking about illegals here. 3) 12 million may be the current number but you have to take into account some time period of illegals, since over 700,000 enter each year.
1) Fragmentation of Android platforms. You not only have to test for all the different versions of Android you also have to test on different vendors platforms. 2) The Android SDK is constantly changing on a massive scale and things are being deprecated left and right with almost no downward compatibility, so making a simple app and updating it with fixes becomes an enormous task. Y constantly have throw away code and rewrite and redesign your app when you upgrade the SDK. 3) There are ridiculous amount of bugs present the Android platform, and some of these bugs have never been fixed because they belong to an older version of the Android platform which has been abandoned.
Given all this, programming an app for Android is a total nightmare.
Tell that to Google Nexus 4 owners.
There are specific laws that allows the police to speed, block traffic and use firearms. Is there a special law that allows cops to view child porn?
Yes here is the list of manufacturers that offer timely updates:
* None

Only a person with no valid arguments and no intellect will resort to threats and other childish arguments.

Except Microsoft is the only company that has been sentenced for antitrust, monopoly and abuse of dominent position.
Also they hold complete control over what is put into this "open source" project. All changes are "vetted" by Microsoft.
It's a trap!

How can you be sure, the next updated version will not require .NET?
That's amazing. I've got the same combination on my luggage.
