I'm wondering if they are not telling us something in this article, I find it hard to believe that a court room full of "profesionals" would come to this conclusion.
If that is not the case perhaps the profesional "computer crimes investigator/janitor" might want to take some basic computer classes.
I have seen several types of articles on robots for the elderly. One that comes to mind is one that was on here quite a while ago. It was robot that was almost completely mechanical (few electronics) powered by compressed air and controlled wirlessly via a pentium 4. At a price tag of 100k US it was not too expensive concidering nursing homes generally cost more then that per year. This was supposed to be released quite a while ago (2-3 years i thnk) and could vacume and wash dishes as well as other things.... but of course have yet to see anything come of that. It looks like they are getting closer, but its hard to say if we will have anything viable on the market anytime soon.
The cost of the turbines seems a bit step compared to ones i've seen before, but perhaps they are much larger or use a new super efficent turbine? I live within the perspective area, and honestly i think its not such a bad idea. I do wonder about possible sound pollution, i know the light relflecting off of these can be bad as well. I think these will do well to be put in the more rural areas at first, i don't know how these compared to the ugly cell towers that have been put around, but i would imagine they would pose less health risks. Will be intersting to see what happens with this.
People have always been finding ways to cheat work. Whether its longer breaks, sleeping in the bathroom, yeah i know people who have done it, or god knows what else. My favorite though is the george costanza's method, building a bed under your desk to take naps in.
God i've thought about it myself a few times......
Perhaps not the best way to market the falling CRT demand, but one good thing is that at least you know that the larger the crt the less chance of it getting stolen vs a nice and expensive small and lightlcd/plasma display.
What exactly was the source of power?

I may have missed some explination, but what exactly did these robots run on? I found it way out the window to see that robot last 2,000 years with out any type of recharging. Also these humans can make these type of power supplies but can't create a type of dome or heating source using the same technology to survive? I liked the movie, but the ending especially was horribly written.
The city of atlantis was actully believed to have been found a while ago. I believe the island that they conider this to be is the island of crete in the agean sea. No magical machines or anything, but they were defentaly far ahead of their time.
