Mine too... and it took MONTHS to get back in the mail.
Dr. Ron Paul of Texas who is running for President is one of the only politicians opposed to this nonsense...
"I AM ABSOLUTELY OPPOSED TO A NATIONAL ID CARD. this is a contradiction of what a free society is all about. The purpose of government is to protect the secrecy and privacy of all individuals, NOT the secrecy of government. WE DON'T NEED A NATIONAL ID CARD"
If it is Ron Paul he will refuse to enforce the REAL ID, and demand Congress repeal it.
Here is what he says: "I AM ABSOLUTELY OPPOSED TO A NATIONAL ID CARD. this is a contradiction of what a free society is all about. The purpose of government is to protect the secrecy and privacy of all individuals, NOT the secrecy of government. WE DON'T NEED A NATIONAL ID CARD"
Ron Paul thinks that we do not need a national ID and that the REAL ID is a power grab.
Telcos and cable co's are government granted monopolies. Thus there is very limited competition (if any at all), and ISPs really DON'T operate in the free market unfortunately.
Why don't you quote Ron Paul's stance on evolution?
Also please quote where Ron Paul thinks that "The Constitution is an eternal suicide pact [or] that the Bible is the literal truth at every turn of the page"
Also, please show where Ron Paul is a "flip-flopper"
Are you also aware that Fred Thompson was a major lobbyist in Washington and is also a globalist?
Exactly! Big business like big government because big government can legislate and regulate in favor of big business. This is why the government should be as small as possible. See my sig.
Because the mainstream has moved so far away from the ideals that this country was founded on, and so far away from the Constitution, and so far away from liberty, that to speak the words the Founding Fathers of the US once did, sounds a bit nuts these days.
I had my truck broken into a year ago in downtown Nashville. All they stole was my Sat radio ($75) but it cost $200 to replace my window and almost an hour to clean out all the glass in my truck.
The cops didn't even bother to show up to take a report. They called me over the phone to take the report, gave me a case # and that was it!!!!! Totally pathetic.
Communism in Russia happened as a result of the IR. This is why the unions played such a critical role in the US to keep us from going Red too. As that shows the free market will seek equilibrium without the help of the government.
And the free market solved these problems without the help of the government. The solution was called organized labor negotiations, or unions. It's all about the supply and demand of labor.
...a very lassie-faire government. That's right, the time period in which the government was minimal was also the same time in which an economic boom, actually an economic revolution, took place.
This is why all governments should aim to be as minimalistic as possible. When the free market is allowed to flourish, it can do amazing things to a nation's economy and infrastructure.
Why should I be forced to pay for someone else's education, transportation, food, or healthcare costs? The government is forcefully taking money that I earned and giving it to someone who didn't earn it.
"I want someone who is not controlled by coporations, lobbiests, who will stand up for people and the continuation of the real American ideals that have been lost and infected" 99% of Ron Pauls donations are from individuals. He votes "no" on almost every bill before him in Congress. Lobbyists don't even bother visiting with him because his nickname is "Dr. No". You should do your research on Dr. Ron Paul.
The reason the phone companies charge for ring tones is because they are copyrighted and the publishing industry (very closely related to the RIAA) are able to charge what they want for the rights to those specific songs.

Yes -
Telcos and cable co's are government granted monopolies. Thus there is very limited competition (if any at all), and ISPs really DON'T operate in the free market unfortunately.
So does this mean you are going to vote for Ron Paul now?
Why don't you quote Ron Paul's stance on evolution?
Also please quote where Ron Paul thinks that "The Constitution is an eternal suicide pact [or] that the Bible is the literal truth at every turn of the page"
Also, please show where Ron Paul is a "flip-flopper"

Exactly. Essentially Ron Paul is more of a Constitionalist over a libertarian.
As expected, Ron Paul will win, because he eats ninjas for breakfast!

I think he has thought things through a bit more than you give him credit for.

It's both mainstream "neo-liberals" and mainstream "neo-cons". Centrists are included too.
I'll answer it anyway.
Because the mainstream has moved so far away from the ideals that this country was founded on, and so far away from the Constitution, and so far away from liberty, that to speak the words the Founding Fathers of the US once did, sounds a bit nuts these days.
Yeah - that's why I'm voting for Ron Paul. Bush and Clinton are a joke (all 4 of them).
Check out Ron Paul's voting record if you haven't already. He is the most popular canididate on the Net.
I'll be sure to pack extra vaseline in my carry-on next time I fly!

It was more of a libertarian attitude toward the free market and how government should not regulate.

Exactly. I am surprised that more /. ers are not supporting Ron Paul.

And exactly where do you see this written down? Can you prove these allegations? Or do you actually have a clue about what you are discussing?
You must be a libertarian? May I suggest that you vote for Ron Paul? :-)
