  2. Great! Just what we needed! on Sony Super CD: More Bits, More Bucks, Mo' Betta? · · Score: 1

Oh, joy. Just what the world needs: another multimedia storage format. Another lump of hardware with too little compatible content. Another blizzard of competing user apps to further confuse our multimedia file type associations. Another set of hardware resource conflicts. And for what??? Maybe I'll buy one to keep my 8-track and Beta-Max company.

  4. Not just an eBiz problem on Online Shopping Outside the US? · · Score: 1

The problems associated with cross-border e-commerce also affect private dealings as well, and as yet no international governing body seems to be moving toward a solution. The minefields of duties, shipping fees, and various taxes also dampen everyday activities like gifts to overseas friends and private e-auctions. The only thing the various bureaucracies involved care about is how to get a piece of the action.

It's not just the long distance carriers. The cellular/wireless industry is just as guilty. I actually had to go to court once to get Primeco to stop billing me for a pre-paid wireless account I never asked for.
