Think about the drawbacks to flying cars:
1.) Amount of energy required to keep a car in the air versus on the ground.
2.) How many broken down cars do you see on the side of the road every day on an average commute? Now imagine they all crashed from an altitude of 100' or more.
3.) FAA would never allow flying cars to travel at low altitude over residential areas, thus forcing all flying cars to fly over existing roads, negating any benefit of a flying car, since it would still be "stuck in traffic"
4.) They'd have to have VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) or we'd have to have runways built at every house, commercial building, etc.
Until they come up with an unlimited source of energy, a mechanical device as complicated as a flying car that never breaks down, and sufficient airspace to make it practical, flying cars will remain science fiction.
You have 40+ Windows servers and aren't using WSUS? Deploy WSUS, pull the patches down on Tuesday, push them on Monday night. Gives nearly a whole week for the rest of the world to figure out they're not working for you.
Maximum transmission speed on a single coax cable last I heard was 100mbps. Since I have a 40 mbps connection rate and 5 televisions all hooked up with HD channels, how exactly could they double that without cutting into my bandwidth?
There's only one cable coming from the pole to my home, so how is it a different connection? Of course it will use your bandwidth, just as every other Comcast customer in my area affects my bandwidth.
Yeah, and both the subscriber and the freeloader will get the same amount of bandwidth I pay for every month from Comcast? Do they magically double the connection speed? Because I'm already at the highest level Internet they offer.
More likely they were just high. It's ridiculous to think that what works for kids in Florida works for kids in Hawaii, or what works for kids in Arizona works for kids in New York. This kind of data is just meant for tracking, it wouldn't be used to improve a thing.
Yes, stopping mid-sentence every 5 seconds or so and pressing Ctrl-Z is highly conducive to the creative process. Thanks for proving the author's point that newer isn't always better.
I still remember WordPerfect 5.1 running on DOS, once you had all the shortcut keys memorized, was lightning fast and did just what it was supposed to. I get so pissed off clicking on the little blue lightning bolt every 5 seconds to undo something Microsoft thought it was helping me "fix."
Keep up on the laws, multiple states have laws in place that require this technology be installed on all handguns once it's available. Whether it works or not doesn't matter, just if it's available.
The Mossberg 500 is a shotgun, not a rifle. The difference is similar to being asked to find the value of pi and coming up with the acceleration of gravity. Yes, they both have numbers and decimal places, but two very different things.
Think of the birds! Wind power kills birds. Can't have that! Unless you take out all the animal activists first..... and while you're at it, take out the environmentalists... then of course you'll have to take out the lawyers, so they don't put you on trial for murder... then the politicians, they'll just make a mess of everything all over again.... I think that sort of reduction of population would be enough to bring energy usage down to a point where coal won't have that much of an impact on the environment anymore.
I read it just fine. Started off just like the books I read to my kids at night "once upon a time...." there was this magical land where solar was economical and worked 24/7 and every nation on the planet jumped on board and there was no more pollution ever. The end.
Where do people think the electricity to charge their electric cars come from? The electric fairy? Most electricity today is provided by coal, oil, and natural gas. All fossil fuels. Keep buying those electric cars and telling yourself you're doing your part. You're just putting your part off on someone else (the utility company)
Agreed. Had Windows 8 on one PC at home, refuse to buy another Windows PC until they fix it or put out the next version of Windows, hopefully calling it Windows 7R2 Subtitled: "Our bad!"

Just get a low level tech to release some NSA docs to the Russians, instant $110k!

You give the government too much credit. Common core doesn't take location into account at all. It's a one-size will be imposed on all solution.

Every Android tablet I've owned has a hard reset button. Hold the power button down for 3-5 seconds and it powers off.
It's a sure fired way to make sure they don't become repeat offenders.
First game that made me sick was Prey. All the twisting and turning as soon as you come through the portal, too much for this old fart.

New Jersey in particular: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jo...

PowerPoint! Who doesn't appreciate a good PowerPoint presentation?

There really needs to be a sarcasm font...
Please just mention you're coming to Denver, would love to see how Comcass and CenturyLunk react.

Well, the report says the effects are irreversible, so does this mean we can finally stop worrying about it now?
He did say station wagon, maybe he was referring to 8-track tapes....
