    Yes, it's the lingering effect first of slavery, and then later segregation. We're less than 60 years from when the civil rights act was passed, there have not been enough generations for the socio-econonomic situation to stabalise between races.

    Also, in the US, and the rest of the west, many minorities who are immigrants come from less affluent nations with lower standards of education.

    Yes, there is a link between socio-economic status and race but it is not caused by race.

    The only resources within an O'Neill Cylinders are the ones that man puts there. They need to have a 100% recycling ability within the cylinder or they will need a place to dump waste and take in new resources.

    Not saying that this is a deal-breaker, but it means everything needs to be more finely balanced. It's like keeping a fishtank. A small aquarium can quickly go belly-up if the chemistry isn't maintained. Large Aquariums are more stable. A pond or a lake, infinitely moreso.

    Mars is an ocean. An O'Neill Cylinder is a fishbowl.

    There are also countless studies with evidence showing that race is a determinant of intelligence, but everyone seems to be happy to aggressively ignore those. :)

    And they all ignore Socio-economic status. When you take that into account it shows no statistically significant difference between the races.

    That was my thought too... They're on opposite ends of the spectrum.

    You have Expensive, lots of hand-holding with Apple to Free (OS) and comparatively cheap hardware with no handholding with Linux. Microsoft windows sits between Apple and Linux on the spectrum. Or is, owning Apple a prescription to hating MS so willing to skip over them completely.

    You know what would be better than Amazon Drones? Amazon space-drops. As their giant space satellites travel overhead, at exactly the right time your package drops out attached to a parachute and descends slowly to earth landing on your doorstep, or your roof.

    Alexa's always on speaker is constantly listening for when you start to snore. If you haven't purchased enough from Amazon recently she will sprout little robot legs and a knife will come of the speaker... she will make her way slowly to your room and then... ...

    Jersey Mike's here in the midwest is the only store I've seen with a sign that says no masks allowed.

    I'd be ashamed to walk into a Jersey Mike's without wearing a mask.

    There is this generally accepted principle in discussion that if you claim something, it is up to you to provide the evidence of the claim.

    Not when it is public knowledge and something that has been all over the news.

  12. I am absolutely not a democrat. I'm an independent who has voted Republican more frequently than democrat. Ironically, Hillary is more Republican in policy than Trump. Trump is all about race, that's not what the republican party is about.

    I'm glad Pence isOK, otherwise I'm sure Trump would have declared himself his own running mate and Vice President. I don't think I could have handled a Trump-Trump 2016 ticket.

  14. I'm also hoping some miracle happens and McMullin wins on account of a hung electoral college. He actually seems like a decent "compromise" type of candidate. He's not too extreme on either end of the spectrum, seems more a common-sense politician rather than an ideologue. If I were in Utah I'd vote McMullin. No point in my state though, so it's unfortunately a Hillary vote for me.

  16. No. I would've supported a President Jill Stein. I believe she'd be a better choice than Donald Trump.

    I cannot support Hillary because she is corrupt. The depth of her corruption is breathtaking and her blatant disregard for the rule of law is a danger to the republic.

    You don't run for president unless you're corrupt. They're all corrupt, you just have to pick the least worst of the group.

    I really doubt the average Trump supporter would vote for a minority. That's kind of the whole point of Trump's campaign, to make America White again.

    What if she's found guilty and wins the election. Presumably if she's found guilty after taking office she'll pardon herself. If it happens between November and January though, does Kaine become president?

    That I can live with far more easily than Trump or Clinton.

    Now that the computers can create their own encryption humans can't read- the google developers can't know for sure that the AI ISN'T trying to kill all humans. If AI was passing that message unencrypted, at least we would know we could prepare to defend ourselves. Now we'll never see it coming.
