The way I understood it was there's 2 forms of communication going on between the client and server. For simplicity, I'll use an analogy.
It's sort of like making a telephone call in 1 of two ways:
The first way - Call a friend on the phone, and have an entire conversation, but never do the formality of a "Hello" or "Bye" at the beginning or end of the call and don't hang up even if you've run out of things to say.
The second way - Call a friend on the phone, but ring them individually for each and every word of the entire conversation, and be sure to include the formality of "Hello" and "Bye" with each and every call.
Maybe I have a wierd way of reading this, but that's what I got out of it.
This prediction could easily become true if popular news sources continue to publish articals about how rich people can get from sending spam.
Companies are paying people to send you spam. Boycott those companies, and they'll eventually get the hint, or go out of business. Either way it'll be the end of spam.
Some company paid this guy to send the spam. Why not just boycott those products/services ? I would think those companies would eventually get the message, and all of our spam trouble would eventually fade away. Think someone somewhere would want to host a database of spam ads of products and services that we should boycott ? ...if I had the resources, I'd consider it.
Better than 90% of the time, I have Linux running on a dual-boot system here in my home along with 2 dedicated servers, and another workstation.
The ONLY time I find myself ever booting Windows 98SE is to play an older game that I can't get a Linux version of.
And concidering all the Nimda issues going around lately, I don't even run IE while in Windows to look up any game tips.
Just reboot and play, and reboot again.
(Yes, I've grown very tired of rebooting just for a stinkin' game that isn't even sold anymore.)
All of my new game purchases are Linux compatable. So hopefully even that old habit won't remain for too much longer.
The soft-porn crap has to go.
My 10 year old wasn't really ever into Star Trek.. Until tonight!
However, I think it's going to take a few more episodes for the cast to find their characters.
After that, it'll be alot easier to judge how the show will play out.
How I read the artical was "multiplayer test" not a "graphical test".
It's aparent this product is not yet finished.
If you plan to judge this game by this demo version, then you might be a bit mislead by your own judgement. Let's save the reviews, and just stick with lending a hand with the networking code test.

When I was in highschool, we took an old `76 Pinto, and modified it to hold a V-8, and worked it into a... well, sort of a hotrod.. which is where I first learn to work on my own car.
The rest of the students and I had a blast watching that old car take the 1/4 mile in just over 12 seconds.
Now think of all the fun and education I would`ve missed out on, if we had just stuck with using that car for what it was `made for`.
I don`t own a game console, but before I heard Dreamcast was going under, I almost bought theirs just for tinkering with Linux on it. If Sony releases a Linux Kit for the US, then I`d buy one of theirs since I still don`t have one. Till then, I probably won`t bother making that decision.
I like the way X does remote displays.. just a while ago I was fooling around with OpenGL apps in a remote display, and got a remote to send it's accelerated graphics to my accelerated X server, and left the remote station to run the application process while mine ran just the video.
The idea at the time was something of distributed gaming. I wonder if this new way of doing things will include such flexability ?
`Imagine when we'll be able to scoff at the "only" 24" LCD screen being bundled with the cheap system at CompUSA`
Old as semi trucks are, I've never been able to scoff at one, or fit one into my garage. Guess I'm just stuck with this plain'o 19" KDS Avitar @ 1600x1200.
where I work for the IT dept. PDA's have become a favorite for doctors and marketing. Altho it still seems like it's more of a statis symbol than anything else. It's the next best thing to a laptop, which is another statis symbol amung the Dr's. Plenty of laptops at the hospital never leave their docking stations. But PDA`s on the otherhand.. those are in just about everywhere.
There's a slight discrepency with your version, being that the phone gets dialed when the IP address gets used.
Other than that, that too is a pretty good way to sum it up.
I still feel that a larger audience could relate easier to a telephone call.

I'm only getting a few things coming to mind if software were made similarly to the way bridges are made as this artical suggests.
Copyright infringment, DMCA, patent suits, ect...

Ford Motor Company probably just wanted to keep the General Motors lawyers off their backs.
Not sure if they expected to win such a case..
but for saving face, they had to try something to show they weren't responsible for the mud sling.

There IS an XMMS 2 on their cvs.

As Linux users/admins, we're usually guessed to posses enough to look past these sort of discrepancies.
;-)
Especially since we all have so much experience with use of BETA software.

Know where I can find a HowTo on that ?

You should submit that to UserFriendly.Org

Almost never, scarcely ever.
Almost nothing, scarcely anything.

Is that like installing it twice ?

Every heard of VNC ?
Oops, mornin' coffee just washed the sleep out of my eyes, and that's when I noticed, it's an "Avitron", not an Avitar.
